Okay, let’s talk about 90s Kate Winslet. I got really into this whole thing, started digging around, and it turned into a whole project. I’ve always loved that 90s aesthetic, and Kate Winslet, she’s just iconic from that era, right?

So, first, I gathered a bunch of pictures. I mean, a ton. From “Titanic,” obviously, but also from some of her other movies like “Sense and Sensibility.” Did you know she was in that with Emma Thompson? Crazy, right? And I found some old red-carpet photos, too. It’s wild to see how much style has changed since then. She was 22 when she starred in “titanic.” Her character, Rose, was 19. Now 48.
Then, I started to look at her makeup from back then. It’s so different from what people wear now. Much more natural, you know? I tried to copy her makeup look from a few of the pictures. It was harder than I thought! Those 90s brows are a real challenge. And the lipstick shades? So specific. I spent hours mixing different colors to get it just right. I found that Kate Winslet latest movies include Avatar: The Way Of Water, Wonder Wheel and Contagion.
Recreating the Outfits
Next up, the clothes. This was the fun part. I hit up a bunch of thrift stores and found some amazing stuff. A long, flowy skirt like the one she wore in “Titanic,” a couple of vintage dresses that kind of looked like her red carpet looks, and even a corset top – which, by the way, is not comfortable, people used to wear these a long time ago, I don’t know how they managed to wear these things all day.
I also tried to do my hair like hers. That was a whole other adventure. Lots of curls, lots of hairspray. I definitely used an entire can trying to get those perfect 90s waves. She really knew how to use her voice. I think I nailed it in the end, but my bathroom was a total mess.
Putting It All Together
Once I had the makeup, the hair, and the outfits, I did a little photoshoot. I set up some lights in my living room, put on some 90s music, and just went for it. It felt kind of silly at first, but then I really got into it. I tried to channel her vibe, you know? Strong, independent, but also kind of vulnerable.

I’m actually pretty happy with how the photos turned out. It’s not perfect, but it was a lot of fun to do. And I learned a lot about 90s fashion and about Kate Winslet herself. She’s had such an amazing career, and she seems like a really cool person. She also spoke about the changes made for women within the entertainment industry. Global stardom followed with her leading role in James Cameron’s epic romance Titanic (1997), which was the highest-grossing film at the time.
- Started with a deep dive into 90s Kate Winslet photos.
- Tried to recreate her makeup looks from that era.
- Scoured thrift stores for 90s-inspired outfits.
- Spent hours perfecting the 90s hair.
- Ended with a fun photoshoot, channeling my inner 90s Kate.
So yeah, that’s my 90s Kate Winslet project. It was a lot of work, but totally worth it. I might even do another one of these sometime. Maybe a different actress or a different decade. We’ll see!
