Okay, so I’ve been messing around with my makeup routine lately, trying to figure out the best way to make it look flawless and last all day. The big question I had was about primer and moisturizer – which one should I use first?

I started by doing my usual thing. Washed my face, then slapped on some moisturizer. I really massaged it in, you know, to get that blood flowing and make sure my skin was all nice and hydrated. Then I waited a few minutes. Felt like forever, honestly. I just scrolled through my phone, waiting for that moisturizer to fully sink in.
After that, I applied my primer. I used one of those silicone-based ones, because it makes my pores look smaller. Spread that all over, focusing on my T-zone where I get all oily. Then I waited again, though not as long this time. Just enough for it to kind of set, I guess.
Then came the foundation. Glided on pretty smoothly, I must say. I blended it all in with my beauty blender, stippled some concealer under my eyes, and set everything with a light dusting of powder.
Throughout the day, I kept checking myself out in the mirror. I observed my makeup was holding up pretty well. My skin looked smooth, not too oily, and my foundation wasn’t breaking apart or anything. Success!
But then, just to be sure, I tried it the other way around the next day. Primer first, then moisturizer. Let me tell you, it didn’t go as well. My skin felt kind of tight, and the moisturizer didn’t seem to absorb properly. It was like it was just sitting on top of the primer. Then when I put on my foundation, it looked patchy and uneven. Not a good look.

My Observations
- First Trial (Moisturizer – Primer – Foundation)
- Skin felt hydrated and smooth.
- Foundation applied evenly and lasted throughout the day.
- Minimal oiliness and no patchiness.
- Second Trial (Primer – Moisturizer – Foundation)
- Skin felt tight and dry.
- Moisturizer did not absorb well.
- Foundation looked patchy and uneven.
So, yeah, from my little experiment, it’s definitely moisturizer first, then primer. It just makes sense to hydrate your skin before putting on anything else. And believe me, your foundation will thank you for it! It is like the solid base for my makeup.
At last, I got a really good look for all day.
