Harley Quinn Dress Suicide Squad DIY: How to Create Her Outfit on a Budget.

Date:

Okay, so, I wanted to dress up as Harley Quinn from “Suicide Squad” because, you know, she’s just the coolest. And who doesn’t want to be a little crazy for a day? Plus, I love a good DIY project. So I started this whole thing, excited and, to be honest, a bit nervous.

First things first, I had to gather all the stuff I needed. Now, the most iconic part of Harley’s look is that “Daddy’s Lil Monster” shirt, right? I found a white baseball-style shirt with red sleeves. It wasn’t exactly like hers, but I figured I could work some magic on it. Then there’s her red and blue bomber jacket. I looked everywhere, I could find something similar, so I decided to get a plain red jacket and a blue one and, like, combine them. Seemed easy enough in my head.

I started with the shirt. I tried to make it look worn out, you know, to give it that authentic Harley vibe. I roughed up the edges, made some small cuts, and even used some fabric paint to add some dirt and grime. It was messy, but hey, Harley isn’t exactly known for being neat, right?

Then came the jacket. I took the sleeves from the blue jacket and attached them to the red one. Let me tell you, sewing is not my forte. It took a lot of time and a few mishaps. I even pricked myself a couple of times. It looked rough around the edges, literally, but I thought it added to the whole rebellious, thrown-together look. I also got some gold fabric paint and added some accents to make it pop.

  • Shirt Modification:
    • frayed the edges of the baseball shirt
    • made small cuts and tears
    • applied fabric paint for a worn-out look
  • Jacket Assembly:
    • removed sleeves from the blue jacket
    • sewed blue sleeves onto the red jacket
    • added gold fabric paint for accents
  • Additional Details:
    • styled my hair in pigtails, one pink and one blue
    • applied makeup to match Harley’s look, including the smudged red and blue eye shadow and red lipstick

I also worked on my hair and makeup. I dyed my hair into pigtails, one pink and one blue. And for the makeup, I went all out with the smudged red and blue eye shadow and, of course, the bold red lipstick. I even drew a little heart under my eye, just like Harley.

Putting it all together was the most exciting part. I put on the shirt, the jacket, some ripped fishnet stockings, and some temporary tattoos to complete the look. Looking in the mirror, I couldn’t help but smile. It wasn’t perfect, it was pretty rough and messy, but it was definitely Harley. I felt like I could take on the world, or at least, you know, rock a pretty awesome costume party.

I went to this Halloween party, and let me tell you, people loved it! I got so many compliments, and some even asked me how I made the costume. It was a great feeling, knowing that all that hard work paid off. And the best part? I had a blast pretending to be Harley Quinn for a night. It was seriously one of the most fun costumes I’ve ever put together.

So, yeah, that’s my Harley Quinn costume story. It was a bit of a challenge, but it was totally worth it. I got to be creative, I learned a few things about sewing, and I got to channel my inner Harley. Would I do it again? Absolutely! Maybe next time, I’ll try out her red dress look. Who knows?

Okay, so I wanted to mess around with something...

yellow purple nike shoes
