Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this show called “Pen15” lately, and there’s this character, Brandt, that really got me thinking. I just had to share my whole process of diving into this.

First off, I started watching “Pen15” like everyone else, just binge-watching, you know? I got introduced to Maya and Anna, these two girls starting 7th grade. It’s all set in the year 2000, which is a total blast from the past with the dial-up modems and all that good stuff. They’re super close with this other kid, Sam, and they all hang out together. It’s fun to see them interact.
So, as I’m watching, there’s this one scene that really sticks out. It’s when Brandt, this somewhat awkward kid, invites Maya and Anna to the janitor’s closet. He ends up admitting he’s got a real thing for Maya. It’s a bit weird but also kind of sweet in a middle school way. This got me thinking about Brandt’s character more deeply.
- I started digging around to find out more about Brandt. Turns out, his character is based on Sam Zvibleman, one of the show’s creators. That blew my mind a little. It made me appreciate the character a lot more, knowing it was based on a real person’s experiences.
- Then, I found out about how they made an animated episode. I guess they were all set to do a normal live-action episode, but then the whole COVID thing happened. They had to switch gears and make it animated so they could keep working on it from home. I thought that was pretty cool, how they adapted to the situation.
- I kept watching, and there’s this episode, Episode 7 of Season 2. Man, this one hit me hard. It was just so well done, and I really felt for Maya and Anna in that episode. It made me think about how much care the creators put into these characters.
- And about Brandt. I was thinking, you know, this kid, Brandt, must have gone through a lot, especially with the hints about his parent maybe passing away. It made me think about how tough that would be for anyone, especially a kid.
After going through all this, I realized how much I enjoyed “Pen15.” It’s not just a funny show; it’s got a lot of heart. And Brandt, man, he’s a character that really makes you think. It’s awesome when a show can make you laugh and feel things all at the same time.
I ended up spending a whole weekend just diving deep into this. It was a good time. It is kind of cool to get this invested in a show and its characters. I just had to share my little journey with you all.
