That Blake W. Nordstrom, oh, he was a big shot, you know. He was one of them Nordstrom fellas, the ones who run that big fancy store. I hear tell it’s called a “department store”, whatever that means. Sounds like a place where they sell departments, maybe for houses or somethin’.

Anyway, this Blake, he wasn’t just any old worker bee. Nope, he was up there with the head honchos. He was a big deal, a real big wheel. You see, his family, they started that whole Nordstrom thing way back when. Great-granddaddy started it, I reckon. So Blake, he just kept it going, like you do with a good stew. You gotta keep it simmerin’, add a little somethin’ here and there.
This Blake, he was the president, they called him. President of that whole Nordstrom shebang. From the year 2000, they say, to 2014. That’s a long time to be in charge of anythin’, let alone a store full of fancy stuff. They have all sorts of things, that place. They have dresses and shoes, and I hear they even have a cafe in some of them. Can you believe that? Eatin’ where you buy your clothes. Times sure have changed.
Then, I heard his brothers, Erik and Peter, they joined him in 2015, they become co-presidents, like they shared the job. Like sharin’ a pie, I guess. They all worked together, them Nordstrom boys. They started way back when, just workin’ in the store. They all gotta learn the ropes, you know. Gotta know what you sellin’ from the bottom up.
But, that Blake, he passed on. Died, they said. Back in 2019, that was a sad day for the family, I bet. Leavin’ his brothers, Erik and Peter, to run the whole thing. That Erik, he was the big cheese, CEO, they call it. Big boss man. It’s a heavy load to carry, runnin’ a whole store like that. You gotta keep an eye on everythin’.
Heard that the store, they have a fancy part. It’s called Nordstrom, just like the name. It’s for the rich folks, I reckon. Expensive stuff. Then they got another part, called Nordstrom Rack. That’s where you find the bargains, they say. Like a sale, all the time. They have over 300 of these Rack places, all over. And they have them fancy stores in lots of places too.

That Nordstrom family, they want to keep the store in the family, it seems like, they wanna do it their own way. They say it’s a “long-term strategy”, whatever that means. Just sounds like they wanna keep things the way they like ’em. Family business, you know. It’s a lot of work, but it’s yours.
It’s a hard world out there, though, in them stores. Lots of other stores tryin’ to sell the same stuff. They call it “competition”. Like a race, I guess. Everyone tryin’ to be the fastest, sell the most, have the best things. It’s a real hustle. You gotta be tough, like a week-old biscuit, to make it in that world.
I don’t know much about that fancy store, honestly. But I know that family, them Nordstroms, they sure made a name for themselves. And that Blake, he was a big part of it. He must have been somethin’, to be president of that whole thing. And his brothers, still carryin’ on, keepin’ the family name alive. It’s a big job, runnin’ a store like that. A really big job. They are important people, that’s for sure.
- Blake W. Nordstrom was a president of the company.
- Erik and Peter are his brothers.
- Erik is the CEO now.
- They have two kinds of stores: Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack.
- Nordstrom Rack has many stores in the US.
- That family wants to keep the store to themselves.
They sell all sorts of things in that store. Probably a bunch of things people don’t really need. I hear this Blake fella, he passed on. Must’ve been a while back now. Heard his brothers took over, kept the business in the family. They probably sell things like: Coats, you know, for when it’s cold. Dresses, them fancy things the ladies wear. Shoes, gotta have shoes. Hats, maybe. All sorts of things, I imagine. Lots of things for people to spend their money on.
Well, I reckon that’s all I know about that Blake W. Nordstrom. He was a big shot at that fancy store, and his family’s still runnin’ it. It’s a big world out there, with lots of big stores and big shots. Just gotta keep your head down and keep on truckin’, I guess. That’s what I always say. Just keep on truckin’.
