Okay, so I saw this movie, “Inside Out 2,” right? It’s the sequel to that Pixar flick “Inside Out.” Super cute, super emotional, the whole nine yards. But what really caught my eye were the outfits inspired by the emotions. I mean, they’re animated characters, but the way they dressed up those feelings? Genius!
So, I got this bright idea. I’m gonna try and recreate these looks in real life. A little DIY project, you know? I started with Pinterest, as one does. I searched for “Inside Out 2 outfit ideas,” and oh boy, did I find a goldmine!
- First up, Joy. Think yellow and light blue. Sunshine and clear skies. I raided my closet and found this bright yellow dress I haven’t worn in ages. Paired it with a light blue scarf, and boom, instant Joy. I even tried to mimic her perky hairstyle. It was fun!
- Next, Sadness. Blue and white, like a rainy day. I found an old, oversized white sweater and some comfy blue sweatpants. The key here was the slouchy, downtrodden look. I even practiced my best sad face in the mirror. Sounds silly, but it helped me get into character.
- Anger was a bit trickier. Red and black. I had a red shirt, but the black was a problem. Ended up using a black belt and some black boots to complete the look. I even spiked my hair up a bit to mimic his fiery personality. This is the most challenging part I would say.
- Disgust was all about green and white. I found a mint green top and paired it with white jeans. The trick here was to look a bit snobby. I practiced my “I’m too good for this” face. It’s harder than it looks!
- Fear was purple and white. I had a light purple shirt, but no dark purple pants. So, I improvised with some white pants and a dark purple scarf. I even used some glitter foam paper to make a curly hairpiece, just like Fear’s.This one turned out pretty cute, actually.
- Then came the new emotions, like Anxiety. Orange and white. Found an orange striped top and paired it with white shorts. I even tried to do a messy ponytail to mimic her shell-shocked look. Nailed it, I think.
- Envy was a bit more dreamy. I didn’t have specific colors for her, so I went with a starry-eyed look. Used some glitter makeup and wore a flowy dress. Felt like I was floating.
- Ennui, well, I just wore my most comfortable clothes and laid on the couch. It’s all about the vibe, you know?
Putting It All Together
I spent a whole weekend playing dress-up. It was a blast! I took some photos, posted them on my social media, and got some pretty interesting reactions. People loved the idea! Some even asked me for tips on how to recreate the looks themselves.
This little project of mine turned out to be more than just a fun way to spend a weekend. It was a way to connect with a movie I loved, express myself creatively, and maybe, just maybe, inspire others to do the same. So, if you’re looking for a fun, creative project, why not give this a try? Dive into your closet, get inspired by your favorite characters, and just have fun with it. Trust me, it’s worth it!
