Okay, so I wanted to figure out how to wear a lariat necklace because I got this really pretty one, but I was totally confused about how to style it. I mean, it’s not like a regular necklace with a clasp, right?

First, I watched a couple of videos and looked at some photos online. Most of them showed the same basic steps. So, I grabbed my necklace and decided to give it a shot.
I took one end of the lariat and held it up near my collarbone, like just below it. Then, I wrapped the rest of the necklace around my neck once. My lariat isn’t super long, so once was enough. If yours is longer, you might need to wrap it twice.
Next, I took one of the strands at the front and looped it over. I pulled it gently and that seemed to keep the whole thing in place.
- Step 1: Hold one end of the lariat below your collarbone.
- Step 2: Wrap the other end around your neck once or twice.
- Step 3: Loop one of the strands in the front to secure it.
It actually looked pretty good! And it wasn’t hard at all. I tried a few different variations, like changing where I placed that first end, and that made it hang lower or higher. I also experimented with different outfits. A simple black top worked well, and so did a plain white tee. It looked great with those everyday outfits.
I found some pictures that suggested using a bezel-diamond accent, paperclip chain style, and even adding some color with emerald or turquoise. It seems like these necklaces are totally in right now. So maybe I’ll add more to my collection.

My takeaway?
Don’t be afraid to just play around with it! There’s no one right way to wear a lariat. You can adjust it to fit your style and the outfit you’re wearing. It’s way more versatile than I thought.
