Okay, so, I saw this picture of Aubrey Plaza at the 2023 Met Gala, and I just had to try and recreate her look. I’m not a red-carpet regular or anything, but I thought it would be a fun little project.
First, I studied a bunch of pictures from the event. She was wearing this amazing dress, and I wanted to get all the details right. I noticed she’d also been at the Critics’ Choice Awards, so I looked at those pictures too, just to get a better sense of her style.
Gathering My Supplies
- I went through my closet, hoping I’d have something similar. No luck.
- Then I hit up some local stores. Still nothing that really matched the vibe.
- Finally, I decided to try making parts of the dress myself. I’m not a professional seamstress, but I can handle a needle and thread.
The Creation Process
I started by sketching out the dress based on the photos I had. Then, I picked out some fabric that I thought would work well and started cutting and sewing. It was definitely a challenge, and there were moments where I almost gave up.
But I kept at it, and slowly but surely, the dress started to take shape. I added some finishing touches, like the details I’d noticed in the pictures, and finally, it was done!
The Final Result
It wasn’t a perfect replica, of course, but I was pretty happy with how it turned out. I tried it on, did my hair and makeup in a similar style, and even struck a few poses for some photos. It felt pretty good to channel my inner Aubrey Plaza for a bit.
All in all, it was a fun experience. Maybe I won’t be attending any red-carpet events anytime soon, but at least I know I can put together a decent outfit if the occasion ever arises!
