Okay, so I’ve always been fascinated by those wild 80s hairstyles, especially the hip-hop ones. I mean, they’re so bold and full of personality! So, I decided, why not give it a shot myself? I’m gonna document my whole process here, just for kicks.
First off, I started with dirty hair, like they did back in the day, I guess. My hair was washed 2 days ago. Then, I grabbed my fine-tooth comb and started teasing the heck out of my hair at the roots. It was a bit of a workout, I won’t lie. I spent a good ten minutes just teasing and teasing, trying to get that volume.
- Tease hair at the roots.
- Use a fine-tooth comb.
- Then use a regular brush.
After teasing, I took a regular brush to kind of smooth things out a bit, but still keeping that lift at the roots. The next step was the hairspray. Oh boy, the hairspray. I basically doused my entire head in it, focusing on the front part of my hair. I used a whole can – yeah, it was intense.
Then came the hair dryer. I blasted my hair with heat to set the hairspray, and let me tell you, it got pretty stiff. I repeated the teasing, spraying, and drying process a couple more times until my hair was looking pretty darn big. It wasn’t quite “80s big” yet, but it was getting there.
To really lock in that volume, I added some gel to the roots. I just kind of squished it in there, hoping for the best. At this point, my hair was feeling pretty crunchy, but hey, that’s the 80s for you, right?
Experiment with the Side Ponytail
Then there is the classic side ponytail, I tied my hair into a high side ponytail. Man, it felt weird but also kinda cool. My hair finally looked like a real 80s style. But honestly I will try other 80s styles next time, maybe the Mullet. But today, the side ponytail it is. That’s a cool try.
So yeah, that’s my 80s hair adventure. It was a bit of a mess, and my hair felt like a helmet by the end, but it was definitely an experience! Might not be something I’d do every day, but it was fun to channel that 80s energy for a bit. If you’re looking to spice things up and get a little wild with your look, why not give it a go?
