Hey everyone, today I’m going to share my experience with recreating the vibe of 80’s runway models. It was quite a journey, and I recorded the whole process. Let’s dive in!

Getting Started
First, I spent some time watching old fashion show videos from the 80s. I wanted to really grasp the essence of their style, makeup, and the way they walked. Man, those shoulder pads were something else! I started noting down key elements like the bold makeup, big hair, and the confident strut that defined the era.
Gathering Supplies
Next, I hit up some online stores to gather my supplies. I needed to find the right clothes, which meant hunting for vintage pieces. Think bright colors, oversized blazers, and lots of sequins. It was like a treasure hunt! I also picked up some essential makeup items – vibrant eyeshadows, bold lip colors, and lots of blush. Can’t forget the hairspray for that iconic 80s volume, right?
The Transformation
Now for the fun part – the transformation! I started with the makeup. I went all out with a blue eyeshadow, extending it up to my brows. Then, I added a thick layer of pink blush, really emphasizing my cheekbones. I felt like I was a canvas with paint. For the lips, I chose a bright red, making sure it was perfectly lined. It felt so weird, and it was really cool!
- Step 1: Put on some blue eyeshadow, all the way up to the brows.
- Step 2: Add a ton of pink blush, focusing on the cheekbones.
- Step 3: Line and fill in the lips with a bold red color.
Then came the hair. Oh boy, the hair! I teased it like crazy, adding tons of hairspray to get that voluminous look. It took a while, but I finally achieved that big, fluffy 80s hairstyle. I felt like I had doubled my hair volume. It’s a lot of work, but it feels so worth it.
Dressing Up
With the makeup and hair done, I moved on to the outfit. I put on a bright, oversized blazer with shoulder pads that could rival a football player’s. I paired it with a sequined top and some high-waisted, acid-wash jeans. To complete the look, I added some chunky, colorful accessories – big earrings and a few bangles. I looked in the mirror and couldn’t help but laugh – I was a walking time capsule!

The Walk
Finally, I practiced the walk. This was the trickiest part. I watched more videos, trying to mimic the confident, almost aggressive strut of the 80s models. I practiced in my living room, much to the amusement of my cat. It’s harder than it looks! It took a few tries, but I started to get the hang of it. I felt powerful, like I could conquer the world with each step.
Final Thoughts
Recreating the 80s runway model look was an absolute blast. It was a lot of work, but seeing the final result was so rewarding. I felt like I had stepped back in time. It’s amazing how fashion, makeup, and a simple walk can transport you to a different era. I encourage you all to try it sometime – it’s a fun and nostalgic experience. Plus, you get to play dress-up, and who doesn’t love that? It’s so much work, and so much fun!
