Now, I ain’t no fancy hairdresser, mind you. I’m just a plain ol’ woman, but I can see pretty hair when I see it. And that Anne girl, she’s got some pretty hair, that’s for sure. Sometimes it’s short, sometimes it’s long, sometimes it’s all curly-like. But that wavy hair, that’s the one that gets folks talkin’, seems like.

I tell ya, these city folks, they got all sorts of tricks up their sleeves for makin’ hair look fancy. Me? I just wash mine and let it be. Sometimes I braid it, if I’m feelin’ fancy, but mostly it just hangs there. Ain’t got time for all that fussin’ and primpin’ like them movie stars.
But I hear tell there’s ways to get that wavy hair even if you ain’t born with it. They use these hot iron things, but ya gotta be careful, they say. Don’t want to burn your hair off, now, do ya? They say keep it low, under 250 degrees or somethin’. And put some stuff on it to protect it, too. Sounds like a lot of trouble to me, but I guess if you want to look like that Anne girl, you gotta do what you gotta do.

Me, I’ll stick with my plain ol’ straight hair. It’s less trouble, and it keeps me warm. And that’s all that matters to an old woman like me.
