Hey guys, it’s your girl back again with another beauty experiment. Today, we’re diving deep into the world of makeup to recreate one of the most iconic looks from the TV show “Skins” – yeah, we’re talking about Effy Stonem’s signature smoky eye and nude lip combo. I’ve always been obsessed with her edgy, mysterious vibe, so I thought, why not try to bring a bit of that Effy magic into my own life? So, grab your makeup bags, and let’s get started!

Prep the Canvas
First things first, I started with a clean face. I washed my face with a gentle cleanser and then applied my go-to moisturizer to make sure my skin was hydrated and ready for the makeup onslaught. I also dabbed on some eye cream because, let’s be real, those late nights studying for exams catch up with you.
Build the Base
Next up, foundation. I used a beauty blender to apply a medium-coverage foundation that matches my skin tone. I didn’t want anything too heavy since Effy’s look is more about the eyes and less about a flawless face. After blending it out, I concealed any blemishes and dark circles with a creamy concealer, making sure to blend it seamlessly into the foundation.
The Eyes Have It
Now for the star of the show – the smoky eyes. This was the most fun part, but also the trickiest. I started by applying an eyeshadow primer to my eyelids to ensure the shadows stay put. Then, I took a matte black eyeshadow and packed it onto my eyelids, focusing on the outer corners. I used a fluffy brush to blend the harsh edges, creating a gradient effect. To add depth, I layered a dark brown shadow in the crease and blended it upwards. The key here is to blend, blend, blend until it looks effortlessly smoky.
- Grabbed my trusty black kohl eyeliner.
- Lined my upper and lower lash lines, going a bit thicker on the outer corners.
- Smudged the liner with a small brush to soften the lines and add to the smoky effect.
To finish off the eyes, I curled my lashes and applied several coats of black mascara, making sure to wiggle the wand to get every lash coated. It was a bit of a challenge, but I got it done!
Nude Lips for Days
Effy’s lips are always a subtle nude, so I opted for a matte nude lipstick that’s close to my natural lip color. I lined my lips with a nude lip liner first to define their shape and then filled them in with the lipstick. I blotted my lips with a tissue to remove any excess product and give it that lived-in, effortless look.

The Final Touches
To complete the look, I added a touch of bronzer to my cheekbones and temples to give my face some warmth and dimension. I skipped the blush because Effy’s look is more about the contrast between the dark eyes and pale skin. I set everything with a light dusting of translucent powder, making sure not to overdo it and ruin the dewy finish.
And there you have it, folks! My attempt at recreating Effy Stonem’s iconic makeup look. It was a lot of fun experimenting with different products and techniques. It might not be perfect, but I think I captured the essence of Effy’s edgy and mysterious vibe.
