Well, now, this here is about that Gemini season, ain’t it? See, I hear folks talking ’bout it all the time, stars and such. I don’t know much about all that fancy stuff, but I’ll tell ya what I reckon.
This Gemini, they say it’s like two people in one. Twins, they call ’em. One minute they’re sweet as honey, next they’re cold as a well digger’s behind. Can’t never really know which one you’re gettin’. Like my old rooster, bless his heart. One day he’d be peckin’ corn outta my hand, next day he’d be chasin’ me ’round the yard like I stole his favorite hen.
- They is always changing.
- They can be loving and gentle.
- They can be distant and detached.
So, this Gemini time, what’s it all about? Seems like it starts when the weather’s gettin’ nice, kinda like when we used to plant the corn. Sun’s out longer, birds are chirpin’. Maybe that’s why them Geminis are so durn fickle. Sun’s up, sun’s down. Hot, then cold. Makes ya head spin just thinkin’ about it.
And they say somethin’ ’bout the moon, too. When the moon leaves, that’s when the full moon closes. Now, I seen a lot of moons in my time, big ones, little ones, ones that look like they’re smilin’ down on ya. Don’t rightly know what happens when it “leaves”, though. Maybe it goes to visit its kinfolk, other moons, I reckon. Just like we used to visit Aunt Millie down the holler on Sundays.
This time of year, folks get all riled up. Like when the adrenal medulla releases them chemicals. I ain’t no doctor, don’t know nothin’ ’bout that. But I seen it in the animals. Spring comes, and they all get to actin’ a fool. Bulls chasin’ cows, dogs howlin’ at the moon, even the old milk cow gets a little spring in her step. Guess it’s just nature’s way, ain’t it?
And then there’s that arousal and fear, they say the same thing sets ’em off. Like when old man Johnson’s hound dog got loose and chased me up a tree. My heart was thumpin’ like a rabbit in a snare drum. Fear, excitement, don’t know the difference sometimes. Guess it all depends on whether you’re the one doin’ the chasin’ or the one gettin’ chased.

They talk about p-waves and s-waves, too. Sounds like a bunch of hooey to me. Like when the ground shakes, I reckon. We had an earthquake once, back when I was a young’un. Knocked all the preserves right off the shelf. Scared the chickens so bad they didn’t lay for a week. Maybe these waves is what makes the ground do that little jig.
Tarot cards, what is that? Some folks use ’em, I hear. Try to tell the future and such. We just used to read the clouds. If they were dark and heavy, you knew rain was comin’. If they were white and fluffy, it was gonna be a good day for hangin’ out the wash. Simple as that. Didn’t need no fancy cards to tell ya what was what.
Zodiac sign’s color? This is new to me. Now they say even colors got somethin’ to do with it. Red is for power. Well, I always did like a good red dress. Made me feel like I could take on the world. Maybe there’s somethin’ to this color business after all.
They also say the moon from Gemini squared the sun. Squares and moons, sound like some school stuff. Don’t know nothin’ ’bout that. I just know when the sun’s out, it’s time to work, and when the moon’s out, it’s time to rest. That’s all the squares I need.
This here is a case study. I heard folks talkin’ about case studies. They’re like stories, I reckon. Like when I tell about the time the prize-winning hog got loose at the county fair. That’s a story, ain’t it? And you can learn somethin’ from it, too. Like, always make sure the gate’s latched tight. Maybe these case studies is just like that, stories to teach ya somethin’.

And first day of school? What’s that got to do with it? I remember my first day of school. Wore a new dress, mama braided my hair. Scared and excited all at the same time. Just like them Geminis, I reckon. Always two things at once.
Well, that’s all I got to say about this Gemini season. It’s a time of changin’, that’s for sure. Just like the weather, just like life. You never know what you’re gonna get, so you just gotta take it as it comes. And maybe, just maybe, try to enjoy the ride, even if it is a little bumpy sometimes. This is important for this Gemini season.
