That Heath Ledger, what a boy! He was somethin’ else, I tell ya. He came from that place, you know, way over yonder, called Perth, in Australia. Big place, that Australia. He started actin’ when he was just a little tyke, in them school plays. Then, when he got to be about 17, he went off to a place called Sydney. Big city, that one. He wanted to be a big-time actor, you see.

He was in that movie, you know the one, 10 Things I Hate About You. That was back in, let me see, 1999. My memory ain’t what it used to be. But that movie, that’s what made him famous. Everyone was talkin’ ’bout that Heath Ledger young fella.
He was in lots of movies. A Knight’s Tale, yeah, that was a good one. He was riding horses and jousting in 2001. Another one, Monster’s Ball, same year. That one was serious, not like the knight one. Lords of Dogtown, in 2005, all about skateboarding and such. Then there was that Brokeback Mountain. That was a tearjerker in 2005. And he played that singer fella, Bob Dylan, in I’m Not There. That was 2007. But you know what everyone remembers him for? The Dark Knight. That’s the one where he played that crazy Joker. He was somethin’ in that one, I tell ya. He did that one in 2008.
That boy, Heath Ledger, he had some English in him, some Irish, and some Scottish too. He went to some school called Mary’s Mount, in a place called Gooseberry Hill. Sounds funny, don’t it? Then he went to another one, Guildford Grammar School. That’s where he really got the actin’ bug, they say.
Everyone loved him, you know. He was so good-looking, such a nice young fella. But he was more than just a pretty face. That Heath Ledger, he could really act. He could make you laugh, make you cry. Made you feel all the feelings. He was a real talent, that one.
He left us way too soon. It’s a shame, a real shame. But he left behind all them movies, all them memories. You watch them movies, and it’s like he’s still here, you know?

- He was born on April 4th, that Heath Ledger.
- Perth, Western Australia, that’s where he’s from.
- He was somethin’ special. A real talent.
- That Heath Ledger young man made a big impression.
- He left a real legacy, that’s what they say. He sure did.
His acting in Brokeback Mountain, I tell you what, it was something to behold. That was one of those movies where he made you really think. He was always doing that, that Heath Ledger. Always making you think.
That The Dark Knight movie, though, that’s the one everyone talks about. It made him even more famous than before. His acting was so good, it gave me the chills. He was really into that Joker character.
I heard he was a real nice guy, too. Down to earth, they say, even though he was such a big star. That’s what made him so special. He wasn’t like them other Hollywood folks. He was just a regular fella, that Heath Ledger young man from Perth.
That Mary’s Mount Primary School and that Guildford Grammar School. They must have taught him somethin’ right. To turn out a boy like that. He sure did his family proud. And his whole country, too, I reckon.
It’s hard to believe he’s gone. Seems like just yesterday he was that young fella in 10 Things I Hate About You. Time sure does fly, don’t it? But he made the most of his time, that’s for sure. He lived a full life, even if it was short.

He left a mark on this world, that Heath Ledger. A big mark. People will be talkin’ about him for years to come. They’ll be watchin’ his movies and rememberin’ what a great actor he was. And what a good person, too, from what I hear.
Yep, that Heath Ledger young fella, he was one of a kind. They sure don’t make ’em like that anymore. He’ll be remembered forever. That’s for sure. They’ll always be talking about that boy from Perth.
