Okay, so I’ve been seeing these french red tips everywhere lately, and I finally decided to give them a try myself. I gotta say, I’m pretty happy with how they turned out!
First things first, I gathered all my stuff. I already had some red nail polish, but I needed to grab a base coat, a top coat, and those little guide stickers for the tips. I found everything at the drugstore, so that was easy.
Prepping My Nails
Before I started painting, I made sure my nails were clean and ready to go. I removed any old polish with some remover and then washed my hands. Next, I used a nail file to shape my nails. I like mine a little rounded, but you can do whatever shape you prefer.
- Removed old polish
- Washed hands
- Filed nails to desired shape
Painting Time
Now for the fun part! I applied a thin layer of base coat to each nail and let it dry completely. This helps protect your nails and makes the polish last longer. Once the base coat was dry, I carefully placed those little guide stickers on each nail, just below where I wanted the red tip to start.
Then, I took my red polish and painted the tips of my nails, using the stickers as a guide. I did two coats to make sure the color was nice and opaque. I messed it up a couple of times, but it’s all good. I waited until each coat was completely dry before adding another. This was crucial for me because it prevented smudging.
Once the red tips were dry, I carefully peeled off the stickers. I was so excited to see the crisp lines! Finally, I applied a top coat to seal everything in and give it a nice shine. I did a second coat to ensure the color was nice and opaque.
The Final Look
And that’s it! I’m really loving my new french red tips. They’re so classic and chic, but with a little bit of a twist. I think they look pretty good for my first time, don’t you? It was way easier than I thought it would be, too. The whole process took me, like, maybe an hour, including drying time. If you’re thinking about trying this look, I say go for it! It’s a fun and easy way to change up your usual manicure.
I’ve been rocking these nails for a few days now, and they’re holding up great. I’ve gotten so many compliments, too! I’m definitely going to be doing this again. Maybe next time I’ll try a different color for the tips. The possibilities are endless!
