Okay, so, I got it into my head to start a little collection. Nothing too fancy, just something fun to look at and maybe worth a bit more down the line. That’s when I thought, why not Mickey Mouse watches? They’re classic, they’re fun, and hey, who doesn’t love Mickey?
So, I started digging around. I read that the first one came out way back in 1933. Can you believe that? Survived the Great Depression and even World War II! That’s some serious staying power for a cartoon mouse.
Then, I started looking at some of the price, you know, just to see what I was getting myself into. I saw a bunch of lists, like “Top 15 Most Expensive Mickey Mouse Watches.” You wouldn’t believe some of these prices! There’s one called the “Gerald Genta Retro Fantasy Mickey Mouse Bezel Diamond” that’s probably worth more than my car, maybe even the house. I do not know how much it is. I just know it is so expensive!
But I also found out that even regular vintage ones can be worth something. Like, there was this person online asking about a 1973 Mickey Mouse watch, still in its original red box, that they’d had since they were a kid. I thought that was pretty cool.
- Checked out some price guides online, just to get a sense of the market.
- Learned that even Emperor Hirohito of Japan, now called Showa, had one! How’s that for a bit of history?
- Decided to start small, maybe with something from a flea market or an online auction.
I ended up finding a cute one at a local antique shop. It’s not a Gerald Genta or anything, but it’s got that classic Mickey charm. I wound it up, and it started ticking right away. It felt like a little piece of history in my hand.
It’s nothing special, I guess, but it’s become my little project. I wear it sometimes, just for fun, and I keep looking around for others to add to my collection. Who knows, maybe one day I’ll find a real treasure. But even if I don’t, it’s just fun to have a little piece of that Mickey magic with me.
So yeah, that’s my little Mickey Mouse watch story. It’s not about making a fortune or anything, it’s just about enjoying the hunt and having a little fun with it. And honestly, sometimes that’s all that matters, right?
