Okay, folks, gather ’round! I’ve got a story for you about my recent adventure to figure out what’s going down in Las Vegas this coming August. You know, I’ve always been a planner, and this year, I decided to get ahead of the game and see what conventions are happening in Vegas in August 2024.

So, first thing I did was hit up the internet. I started poking around, trying to get a feel for the big events. I knew there are a bunch of places where these things go down – the Las Vegas Convention Center, the Venetian, Mandalay Bay, you name it. I figured these would be the hotspots.
I started digging into the details. Found out that small bags are cool, but they’ll check them when you go in. Anything bigger than 14″ x 14″ is a no-go. Backpacks, suitcases – leave ’em at the hotel. Good to know, right?
Then I stumbled upon something called the “Amazing Las Vegas Comic Con.” Apparently, it’s the longest-running fan event in Vegas, covering everything from comics to anime. Sounds awesome, but it threw me for a loop – it’s not happening until June 2025. Bummer! I guess I was a little too eager with my planning.
- First stop: General info on bag policies and big venues.
- Checked out the Amazing Las Vegas Comic Con – not in August, though.
I kept at it, though. I saw some stuff in a different language – looked like German. Something about changing travel plans and booking tours. Not really what I was after, but hey, it’s good to know they’ve got options for folks who need to be flexible.
I also bumped into some ticket-selling websites. They talked about 100% guaranteed tickets and having a huge inventory. I even saw mentions of resale tickets. I guess that’s one way to get into these events, but I wasn’t quite ready to buy anything yet. I needed more info.

- Found some non-English info about travel plans.
- Saw a bunch of ticket-selling sites.
Diving Deeper into Tickets
One site mentioned tickets being sold online at the best prices and also at a box office in Sierra Hall during the event days. They also made it clear that all sales are final. Okay, no turning back once you commit. Noted.
At this point, I was getting a better picture of the whole ticket scene. But honestly, I was still a bit overwhelmed. There’s just so much going on! I decided to take a step back and focus on one convention at a time. I figured that would be a more manageable way to go about it. Figure out a few for sure that interest me, then make up my mind from there.
- Learned about online and in-person ticket sales.
- Realized it’s a bit overwhelming – decided to focus on one event at a time.
So, that’s where I’m at now. I’ve got a basic understanding of the scene, but I’ve still got a lot of research to do. I’m gonna keep digging, see what specific events catch my eye, and then go from there. I’ll keep you all posted on my progress. It’s a bit of a wild ride, but hey, that’s part of the fun, right?
