Okay, so, I’ve been thinking about this Matt Murdock suit thing for a while now. You know, the red Daredevil suit? I got this idea stuck in my head and I just had to try and make one myself.
First off, I had to figure out what this suit is all about. It’s not just a red suit, right? It’s supposed to look like the Devil, with horns and everything, because of Murdock’s whole Catholic background, that’s what I read somewhere. And it’s also tied up with his Daredevil name in the media.
I started by gathering some stuff that I thought would work. I’m not a professional tailor, this is just a fun project for myself. So, I looked at what other people did, I checked out some fan art, cosplays, and, of course, the show itself. I wanted it to be practical, like something a superhero would actually wear, not just for show.
I got some red fabric, the kind that’s stretchy but also tough. I figured that would be important for moving around, you know, like Daredevil does. Then I worked on the mask. This was tricky. I wanted it to have those signature horns, but I also needed to see through it. I ended up using some red lenses, like sunglasses but red, obviously. The horns were a bit of a challenge, I had to shape them and make sure they stayed on. Let’s just say there was a lot of trial and error, and some hot glue involved.
- Gathering materials:
- Stretchy red fabric
- Red lenses
- Material for the horns
- Hot glue gun
- Crafting the suit:
- Sewing the fabric into a bodysuit
- Attaching the red lenses to the mask
- Shaping and securing the horns
The double D symbol was another thing. I decided to make it red but outlined in black, just like in some versions of the suit I’ve seen. I cut it out of some leftover fabric and sewed it on. It wasn’t perfect, but it looked pretty good, I think.
Putting it all together took some time, and there were moments when I thought about just giving up. But I kept going, and finally, I had a suit that looked somewhat like Daredevil’s. It was a bit rough around the edges, sure, but it was mine.
The Final Product
Trying it on was a real kick. I felt like I could run across rooftops, even though I’d probably just trip and fall. It wasn’t just about the suit, though. It was about doing something I thought was cool, and learning a bit along the way.
I even thought about making some for my family. My friends could be Foggy and I could be Matt, and the kids could be clients or something. You know, for a themed party. That would be pretty fun, I guess. I could even make a black prototype suit. The idea of the yellow and black suit didn’t really appeal to me though.
So, that’s my little adventure with the Matt Murdock suit. It’s not exactly like the one in the show or the comics, but it’s something I made, and I’m pretty proud of it. Maybe I’ll even wear it for Halloween, who knows?
