Hey everyone, so today I want to talk about that time I tried to recreate Nina Dobrev’s look from the 2016 White House Correspondents’ Dinner. You know, that stunning strapless dress she wore? Yeah, that one. It all started when I saw a post on Instagram, I think it was from her stylist, Ilaria Urbinati. The dress was by Kaufman Franco, shoes by Jimmy Choo, a clutch by Charlotte Olympia, and the jewelry was Yeprem. I was totally inspired.

First things first, I scoured the internet for photos of Nina at the dinner. I found some great shots that really showed off the dress. It looked so elegant and formal, I thought it would be perfect for a fancy event I had coming up. I even dug into her background a bit – you know, her roles in The Vampire Diaries and movies like The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Just to get a feel for her style, you know?
Finding the Dress
Next, I tried to find a dress that was similar to the Kaufman Franco one. It was tough, man! I spent hours browsing online stores, but nothing quite matched the original. I eventually settled on a white strapless gown that had a similar vibe, but it definitely wasn’t the same. I figured it was close enough though, and I was running out of time.
Accessories and Makeup
- For the shoes, I went with a pair of silver heels that I already owned. They weren’t Jimmy Choos, but hey, they worked.
- The clutch was easier – I found a simple silver one that did the trick.
- Jewelry-wise, I just wore some sparkly earrings and a bracelet. Nothing too fancy.
- I attempted to recreate her makeup look too. I remember seeing somewhere that she had a bright red lip with the white and gold Derek Lam gown, so I went for a similar look. It wasn’t perfect, but I think I pulled it off okay.
In the end, my outfit wasn’t an exact replica of Nina’s, but I think I captured the essence of her look. I felt pretty good about it, and I got a few compliments at the event, which was nice. It was a fun little project, and it was cool to channel my inner Nina Dobrev for a night. I’m not saying I looked as stunning as she did, but hey, I gave it my best shot!
Anyway, that’s my story about trying to recreate Nina Dobrev’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner look. It was a bit of a challenge, but it was definitely a fun one. Hope you guys enjoyed hearing about it!
