Today, I’m going to talk about how I tried to get that classic red lipstick look like those Hollywood stars.

I started by prepping my lips, because you can’t just slap on red lipstick and expect it to look good, right? I used a lip scrub to get rid of any dry skin, and then I put on some lip balm to moisturize. I let that sink in for a few minutes while I did the rest of my makeup.
Next, I used a lip liner. Now, I’m not very good with lip liner, but I tried my best to outline my lips carefully. I heard somewhere that it helps to make an “X” at your cupid’s bow to get a nice shape, so I gave that a shot. It wasn’t perfect, but it was better than usual!
Choosing the Right Shade
This part was tough. There are so many shades of red! I went with a classic, blue-toned red, since I read somewhere that it suits my cool undertones. MAC’s Ruby Woo is a popular one, so I figured I’d try that. It looked pretty good, I think!
- Apply with a Brush: I used a lip brush to apply the lipstick. It gave me more control than applying it straight from the tube. I started from the center of my lips and worked my way out.
- Blot and Reapply: After the first layer, I blotted my lips with a tissue. Then I applied another layer. This is supposed to make it last longer.
- Clean Up Mistakes: I made a few mistakes along the way, so I used a small brush with some concealer to clean up the edges. It worked like a charm!
The final result? Well, I felt like a movie star! It wasn’t perfect, but I was pretty happy with how it turned out. It definitely made me feel more confident and glamorous. I wore it out to dinner, and it lasted pretty well, even after eating. I did have to touch it up a bit after the meal, but that’s expected.
Overall, it was a fun experiment. I think I’ll be wearing red lipstick more often. It’s not as scary as I thought it would be. It just takes a little practice and the right tools. And maybe a little bit of courage to rock such a bold color!
