Okay, so I saw this “backwards nail trend” thing all over the internet and thought, “Why not give it a shot?” I mean, it looked kinda cool and different, and I’m always up for trying new stuff, especially when it comes to my nails.
First off, I gathered all my nail stuff. I’ve got this massive collection of polishes, you know, every color you can imagine. But for this trend, I decided to go with this deep red, almost burgundy shade. I’d seen some posts online where they used dark colors, and it looked really chic, so I thought, “That’s the one.”
I started by cleaning my nails, as usual, you know, the whole process of removing old polish and filing them down. Then, the tricky part: instead of painting the tips of my nails like I normally do with a French manicure, I had to paint a line at the base of my nail, near the cuticle. I used some tips to try it!
- I chose a vibrant red for the base and a metallic gold for the tips.
- I used a thin brush for precision.
- I applied two coats of the base color and let it dry completely.
- Then, I carefully painted the reverse French tip with the gold polish.
It was a bit weird at first, to be honest. I kept feeling like I was doing it wrong, haha. But I took my time, made sure the line was neat, and waited for it to dry before I did the next nail. It was a bit of a learning curve, but not as hard as I expected.
The Result
Once I was done and added a top coat to seal everything in, I stepped back to look at my nails. And you know what? It actually looked pretty awesome! It’s like, a subtle but noticeable change from what I usually do. It’s classy but with a bit of an edge, you know?
I’ve been showing them off to my friends, and they all love it. Some of them are even thinking of trying it themselves. I’ve also tried it with a few different color combinations, like a dark green with a thin gold line, and it looked super elegant.
I got to play around with different colors. And I even tried adding a bit of glitter to the base line a couple of times for a more fun, party-ready look. So yeah, that’s my experience with the backwards nail trend. It’s definitely something I’ll be doing again. It’s a fun, easy way to change up my nail game without being too over the top.
