So, I finally got my hands on that Japan-exclusive Timex Midget. Yeah, the one that’s apparently a big deal because you can’t get the “Midget” name on the dial here in the States. Licensing stuff, you know?
I had to go through a bit of trouble to get it from Japan. Found it on one of those online shops, not even sure if it was Amazon. Anyway, it arrived, and man, it was worth the wait.
This is actually my third Timex. I’ve got a couple of others, one of them is Harborside Coast Automatic. They’re not exactly luxury watches, but Timex always gives you a good bang for your buck. I mean, my quartz Timex has been ticking for years, and it’s more accurate than some of those fancy mechanical watches.
Now, about this Midget. It’s a “trench watch” which is like a throwback to the old-school watches from World War I. Got that vintage vibe, you see? Apparently, it’s a homage to the original Midget made by some company called Ingersoll or Waterbury way back when. Interesting bit of history there.
Why I Got It
- Unique: I wanted something different, and this Japan-exclusive model fit the bill perfectly.
- Affordable: Let’s be real, I’m not dropping a fortune on a watch. Timex is known for being budget-friendly.
- Vintage Aesthetic: I’m into that old-school, rugged look. It’s got that cool, historical charm.
Putting it on, it feels solid. The build quality is pretty decent for the price. The crown has got a two-step setting – first for the hours and second for everything else. Pretty standard, but it works. I’ve been wearing it every day, and it’s been great.
I know some folks are into those high-end watches, and that’s cool. But for me, this Timex Midget is just right. It’s a simple, reliable, and stylish watch that doesn’t break the bank. Plus, it’s got a story behind it, which makes it even cooler. That’s all for now, but I’ll keep you guys updated on how it holds up over time!
