Okay, so, I’ve always been a huge fan of “E.T.” It’s like, one of my all-time favorite movies. And this year, I finally decided to do it – I was gonna make an Elliott costume!

First things first, I needed to gather some supplies. I mean, you can’t just will a costume into existence, right? So, I hopped online to do some shopping. I figured a red hoodie was a must-have. You know, that iconic look of Elliott’s? Browsed a bunch of different websites, and let me tell you, there are way more options for red hoodies than I expected. Ended up finding one for around $39.99. Score!
Then I needed some, like, accessories, you know, to really sell the look. Searched for some random stuff, like maybe a milk crate for the bike, but honestly, that seemed like a lot of work to carry around. And I’m all about being comfortable, you know?
- Red Hoodie: This was the core of the outfit. Found one online for a decent price.
- Blue Jeans: Already had a pair in my closet. Easy peasy.
- Sneakers: Again, already had some. Gotta love when you can use stuff you already own.
The hoodie arrived a few days later, and it was perfect. I tried it on, threw on some jeans and sneakers I already had, and bam! I was halfway there.
The real challenge was E.T. himself. I wasn’t about to just, like, carry a plushie around all night. That’s weak. I considered a few different options but I just bought a doll instead.
So I found one for like twenty bucks and called it a day. It was pretty cheap and not a lot of work. With that I grabbed a blanket and wrapped it around him. Instant E.T. in a basket. I was pretty proud of myself, ngl.

Putting It All Together
The day of the Halloween party arrived, and I was stoked. I put on the whole getup – hoodie, jeans, sneakers, and, of course, E.T. in the basket. I even practiced my best “E.T. phone home” voice. It was pretty solid, if I do say so myself.
The party was a blast. Everyone loved the costume, especially the E.T. part. I got a ton of compliments, and a bunch of people wanted to take pictures with me. It was definitely a hit. Plus, I was super comfy all night, which is always a win in my book.
Honestly, it was one of the best costumes I’ve ever done. It was pretty easy to put together, didn’t cost a fortune, and it was a total crowd-pleaser. If you’re looking for a fun and recognizable costume, I definitely recommend giving Elliott a try. You won’t regret it!
