Okay, so I’ve always been a watch guy. Used to stare at those fancy watch catalogs as a kid, dreaming about owning a real, quality timepiece. Fast forward to now, and I finally got my hands on something I’ve been eyeing for a while – the Timex M79. Yeah, I know, Timex isn’t exactly Rolex, but hear me out, this thing is pretty cool.
First off, I gotta say, getting this watch felt like a little victory. Like, I’m finally not a kid staring at catalogues anymore, you know? Anyway, I went for it, ordered the M79 online, and waited. Not so patiently, I might add.
When the package finally arrived, I ripped that thing open like it was Christmas morning. And there it was, the M79, in all its glory. I opted for the Fuchsia Automatic, and man, the color is even better in person. I decided to name it “Pinky” because I thought it was funny.
Now, about the watch itself. It’s an automatic, which means it winds itself as you move. No batteries to mess with. They say it’s a Japanese-made Miyota movement, which, from what little I know, is supposed to be pretty reliable. I think it’s the 8205, but don’t quote me on that. It’s got 21 jewels, which sounds impressive, even though I’m not entirely sure what that means. Supposedly, it can run for 42 hours without being worn, so that’s a plus, I think?

I’ve been wearing “Pinky” for a few weeks now, and honestly, I’m digging it. It feels solid, looks sharp, and the automatic winding is pretty neat. Plus, it’s got this exhibition case back, so you can see all the gears and stuff moving around inside. It’s kind of mesmerizing, not gonna lie. I’m not a watch expert, I just like what I like. And right now, I’m really liking this Timex M79. It’s a good reminder that you don’t need to break the bank to get a decent, cool-looking watch.
I remember seeing some talk online about a Tudor 79090 case or something and a G-7900MS and some other stuff, I don’t really get it, but maybe someone will find it interesting. I’ve also seen it being referred to as a “Batman,” which I don’t fully understand, but it sounds cool.
I wear it every day now and it has become a part of my daily routine. I get happy every time I look at it, and it reminds me of when I was a little boy. It’s been a wonderful experience and I wanted to share it with all of you.
