Okay, so I tried out doing a short braid for my hair today, and I wanna share how it went. I’ve got, like, a longer pixie cut, and I was getting kinda bored with the usual styles. I saw some pictures online of girls with short hair and cute braids, and I thought, “Why not give it a shot?”
First things first, I washed and dried my hair. I figured clean hair would be easier to work with, right? Then, I grabbed a small comb and some bobby pins – figured those would be my best friends for this little project.
Getting Started
- I started with a little section of hair at the front, on the side where I usually part my hair.
- Then I divided that section into three smaller pieces and started braiding like a regular three-strand braid. Nothing fancy, just crossing the pieces over each other.
The tricky part was keeping the braid tight and close to my scalp. My hair’s kinda short, so it kept wanting to slip out. I used my fingers to hold the strands tight and tried to keep the braid as neat as possible. It wasn’t perfect, but hey, I was learning.
The French Braid Attempt
After a few inches, I decided to get a bit adventurous and tried turning it into a French braid. That means adding a little bit of hair to each strand as you go along, which is way harder than it looks, especially when you have short hair!
I managed to add a few strands, but it wasn’t super neat. Some pieces were definitely shorter than others, and they kept popping out. That’s where the bobby pins came in handy. I used them to secure any loose ends and tuck them under the braid. It was a bit of a messy process, not gonna lie.
Finishing Up
I kept braiding until I reached the back of my head, or at least as far as I could comfortably reach. Then, I just finished it off like a regular braid and secured the end with a small elastic band. Since my hair is short, there wasn’t much of a “tail” left at the end.
Honestly, it wasn’t the prettiest braid I’ve ever seen, but it was kinda cute in a messy, undone sort of way. It definitely gave my short hair a different look, which was what I was going for. I even saw some words in the Bible about braiding, like in 1 Peter 3:3,4, talking about inner beauty and stuff.
I think with some practice, I could get better at it. Maybe I’ll try a side braid next time, or even a waterfall braid if I’m feeling really ambitious. It’s fun to experiment with different styles, even if they don’t always turn out perfect. It’s all about the process, right?
