Okay, so, I got this task the other day to recreate the logo for “A Quiet Place: Day One,” you know, the movie? I thought, “Sure, why not? Sounds like fun!” So, I started by gathering some images online. I just searched for the movie title and looked at all the posters and stuff that came up. The original logo is pretty cool, all scratched and distressed.

First, I opened up my go-to image editor. I figured I’d start with a plain black background, you know, to make the text pop. Then, I typed out “A Quiet Place” in one line and “Day One” in another. I played around with a few different fonts, trying to find one that looked similar to the original. I think I ended up using something called “Bebas Neue” or something like that – it was close enough.
Now for the fun part – making it look all messed up. I found some scratch textures online, you know, just some images with a bunch of scratches and grit. I loaded those into my editor and started messing around with them.
- First, I added a scratch layer over the text. I changed the layer mode to “Screen” or “Overlay” – I can’t remember which one – but it made the scratches blend into the text.
- Then, I used the eraser tool to randomly remove parts of the text, making it look like it was fading or worn away.
- I also added some more layers with different scratch textures, playing with the opacity and blending modes until I got the look I wanted.
- After that, I added a subtle gradient to make it look like the lighting was more dynamic.
- I added a small amount of noise effect to make it look slightly rugged.
It took a bit of trial and error, to be honest. I kept tweaking and adjusting things until it looked just right. It’s not exactly like the original, but I think I got pretty close! I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It was a fun little project, and I learned a few new tricks along the way.
Maybe I’ll try to recreate some other movie logos in the future. It’s a good way to practice my design skills and get my brain working. So yeah, that was my little adventure with the “A Quiet Place: Day One” logo.
