Okay, so, I’ve been wanting to try something new with my hair for a while now, and I finally took the plunge and got a bob with a weave. I’m feeling pretty good about it, and I wanted to share my whole experience, from start to finish, just in case anyone else is thinking about doing the same.
First things first, I had to figure out what kind of bob I wanted. I mean, there are so many options! Inverted, layered, curly, pixie… you name it. I spent hours scrolling through pictures online, trying to find the perfect look. I knew I wanted something chic and maybe a little edgy, but also something that wouldn’t be too much of a hassle to maintain.
Deciding On the Bob
Then there was this whole thing about the “2.25 rule” that I stumbled upon. Sounds crazy, right? But it is meant to help you figure out if short hair is right for you. And I just measured it, and it was just 2.25 inches! Then, I was convinced that a bob could make me look younger. So, I thought, why not give it a try?
After all that back and forth, I finally decided to go for an inverted bob. It’s shorter in the back and gets longer towards the front, which I thought would give me that modern look I was after. Plus, I heard it’s also known as a “stacked bob” or “graduated bob,” which just sounds fancy, haha.
Getting the Weave
Once I had the bob style figured out, it was time to think about the weave. I’m not gonna lie; I was a bit nervous about this part. I’ve had weaves before, but never with such a short style. I did some more digging and found out that a bob should sit just below your chin. They say it frames your jawline and gives you a youthful look. That sounded pretty good to me, so I went with it.
I also learned that the type of bob you get should match your face shape. Like, if you have sharper features, a softer, layered bob might be better. And if you’re on the shorter side, like me, you gotta be careful with the length and volume, so you don’t end up looking like a mushroom. It is also said that the shorter cut could help your hair stay healthy by getting rid of split ends. I was all in for that!
I made an appointment with my stylist, who is a miracle worker, by the way. I showed her the pictures I had saved, and we talked about what would work best for my hair type and face shape. She was super helpful and made me feel a lot more confident about the whole process.
The Big Chop and Weave Install
The day of the appointment finally arrived, and I was a mix of excited and nervous. She started by cutting my natural hair into the inverted bob shape. It was a little weird seeing so much hair fall to the floor, but I trusted her. Then came the weave installation. She carefully sewed in the tracks, making sure everything was blended perfectly. It took a few hours, but it was totally worth it.
When she was done, I couldn’t believe how good it looked! The bob was exactly what I had envisioned, and the weave added the perfect amount of volume and length. I felt like a whole new person. I’ve been rocking this bob for a few weeks now, and I’m still loving it. It’s surprisingly easy to style, and I’ve gotten so many compliments. If you’re thinking about getting a bob with a weave, I say go for it! Just do your research, find a good stylist, and be prepared to feel fabulous.
