So, I decided to check out the Easter Parade in New York City this year. It’s not really a parade like you might think, with floats and marching bands and stuff. It’s more like a big, fancy dress-up party that happens on Fifth Avenue, right around St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

I woke up early on March 31st, and made sure to get there around 10 AM. It runs until 4 PM, so there’s plenty of time to see everything. People have been doing this since way back in the 1800s. This year, the parade route went from 49th Street up to 57th Street along Fifth Avenue.
I got dressed up, though I didn’t go all out with a crazy hat like some folks. But man, some of those hats were wild! I saw people wearing all sorts of fancy outfits, dresses, suits, the whole nine yards. It seems like it all started by itself, sometime around the 1870s. It wasn’t like today.
- First, I walked along the parade route, taking in all the sights and sounds. I saw families, couples, and solo folks, all decked out in their Easter best.
- Then, I stopped to watch some of the performers. There were musicians, dancers, and even some street artists doing their thing.
- I also took some time to appreciate the beautiful architecture of St. Patrick’s Cathedral. It’s a really impressive building.
The parade route starts on 49th Street. I moved north along Fifth Avenue. I went slowly because the avenue was crowded. I went all the way to 57th Street and turned around.
Honestly, the whole thing was a real spectacle. It was fun to see everyone dressed up and enjoying themselves. It’s definitely a unique New York City experience. If you are in New York City next Easter, I suggest you come here.
Some Tips for Next Year
- Get there early if you want a good spot to see everything.
- Wear comfortable shoes because you will be doing a lot of walking.
- Bring your camera because you’re going to want to take lots of pictures.
- Don’t be afraid to dress up!
- Have fun!
It was an interesting day for sure, full of wild hats and fancy clothes. The parade is a cool tradition that’s been going on for a long, long time. Next year, maybe I’ll make a crazier hat!
