So, I’ve got these suede boots, right? Super stylish, but they were a bit tight when I first got them. I was like, “Can these things even stretch?” I mean, they’re suede, not some magical elastic material. So, I did what any normal person would do – I started experimenting.
First, I tried the whole “wear thick socks” thing. I put on the thickest pair of socks I owned, shoved my feet into those boots, and walked around my apartment like a penguin. I figured, if I just wore them enough, they’d have to stretch, right?
- I wore them for a couple of hours each day.
- At first, it was a bit uncomfortable, my feet felt like they were in a vise.
- But, I’m not one to give up easily.
After a few days of this, I started to notice a slight difference. They were a tad looser, but not quite there yet. So, I upped the ante. I bought some of that suede stretching stuff, It’s a spray that’s supposed to make the material more flexible.
Applying the Stretching Spray
I sprayed the inside and outside of the boots, focusing on the tightest areas. Then, I put the thick socks back on and wore the boots again. This time, it felt like things were really starting to give. I kept at it for a few more days, walking around, doing chores, anything to keep those boots on my feet.
But hey, I also read somewhere that water or dish soap can do the job too. I don’t know about the soap but I tried the water and sprayed it on some parts, and guess what? It kind of worked! But I gotta say, be careful with this water trick, it might leave marks on your boots.
And guess what? It actually worked! It took about two weeks, maybe a bit longer, but those boots finally started to feel comfortable. They stretched just enough to fit my feet perfectly. I was so relieved because I really liked those boots, and I didn’t want to have to return them.

One more thing I tried was using a horsehair brush. I read somewhere that brushing suede in one direction helps. I don’t know if it helped with stretching, but it definitely made my boots look nicer.
So, yeah, suede boots can totally stretch. It just takes some time, some thick socks, and maybe a little bit of that stretching spray. Now, I can wear my boots all day without my feet screaming in pain. Mission accomplished!
