Got a project in hand the other day, making a costume, yeah, you heard it right, for that movie “Matrix”. Not gonna lie, it gave me a bit of a headache at first. Never really done anything like this before, so I spent a good few days just scratching my head, trying to figure out where to even begin.

Started with watching the movie again. Paid close attention to what Neo and the gang were wearing. I mean, those long black coats, the shiny leather, it’s all pretty cool, right? So, I got out my sketchbook and started drawing. It’s all a mess, all those lines and ideas, I tried to capture every detail I saw on the screen. Made some notes too, like what kind of fabric they might be using, where the seams are, all that stuff.
Next, I went hunting for materials. Hit up a bunch of fabric stores, feeling kind of lost among all those rolls of cloth. But finally, I found what I was looking for. Some shiny black leather for that iconic coat, and some sturdy black fabric for the pants. Also picked up some accessories, like a black belt, and toy machine gun, that kind of thing. It felt like shopping, but for making a cool costume!
Then came the hard part, actually making the costume. I started with the coat. Laid out the leather, cut it according to my messy sketches. Sewing it together was quite a job. My fingers got poked by the needle more times than I can count. But seeing that coat taking shape, it was all worth it. It looked awesome, just like in the movie!
After that, I made the pants. They were easier, just some straight stitching. The real fun was putting it all together. Tried on the whole outfit, the coat, the pants, the belt. It felt a bit weird at first, wearing all that black leather, but also kind of cool. Like I was stepping into the movie.
I also tried to make those sunglasses. Found some old ones, darkened the lenses. They looked pretty close to what Neo wears. I think these small details really make a difference. It’s not just about the big stuff, but also the little things that bring the whole look together.

In the end, it was a ton of work, but seeing the whole costume come together, it was a great feeling. It’s like, I made that! From just an idea in my head, to something real that I can wear. It’s not perfect, of course, but I’m pretty proud of it.
