Okay, so, I’ve always been a huge fan of the Star Wars movies, and Princess Leia? Total icon. I mean, who doesn’t love her? Especially those signature buns. I finally decided to give them a try myself, figured, how hard could it be, right?

First things first, I had to get my hair ready. As Akyol says, the longer, the better. I gave it a good brush to make sure there weren’t any tangles. This was key, let me tell you. You don’t want to be fighting with knots when you’re trying to get those buns just right.
- Brushed my hair thoroughly.
Next, I parted my hair straight down the middle. This was a bit tricky, I used a comb and tried my best to get a clean line from my forehead all the way to the back of my neck. It took a few tries, but I got there.
- Parted my hair down the middle.
- Used a comb for a clean line.
Once my hair was parted, I started on the buns. I gathered one side of my hair and started twisting it. Think of it like you’re making a rope, but with your hair. I twisted it pretty tightly, and then started wrapping it around itself to form the bun. I used a lot of bobby pins to keep it in place. This was a workout, my arms were getting tired!
- Gathered one side of the hair.
- Twisted it tightly.
- Wrapped it around to form a bun.
- Secured with lots of bobby pins.
Then, I just repeated the same thing on the other side. Twist, wrap, pin, twist, wrap, pin. It felt like it took forever, but eventually, I had two pretty decent-looking buns on either side of my head. They weren’t perfect, but hey, it was my first try!
- Repeated the process on the other side.
Looking in the Mirror
Honestly, when I looked in the mirror, I felt pretty awesome. I kinda felt like a sci-fi princess myself. And yeah, even though my arms were a little sore from all that twisting, I was pretty proud of my handiwork. It wasn’t exactly like Carrie Fisher’s in the movies, but it was close enough. I definitely need more practice, but it was a fun experiment. Next time, I’m thinking maybe I’ll try it with some hairspray to make them stay in place better. If you’re a Star Wars fan, you should totally give it a shot! It’s a fun way to channel your inner Leia.
