Oh honey, let me tell you about these French actresses. They sure are somethin’. You know, back in my day, we didn’t have all these fancy movie stars. But these gals, they’re all over the place.

First off, you got this Brigitte Bardot. Born right in Paris, they say. September 28, 1934. Now that’s a long time ago! She was a real looker, that one. Still is, I reckon. I seen her pictures. All dolled up, you know. Big hair, fancy clothes. Not like us folks, wearin’ the same old dress every day. But she was famous, that Brigitte. Everyone knew her name. They say she’s still around, that’s good, hope she is happy with all her money.
They got lots of these actresses in France, it seems. Not like here, where we got, well, not so many famous folks. These French gals, they just keep on actin’ even when they get old. Like, they still get to be in the movies when they’re past 50, even 60! Can you believe it? Here, once you get a little wrinkle, they put you out to pasture. But not in France, no sir. They really like their older actresses.
There’s this one, Catherine Deneuve. That’s a name I hear a lot. I guess she’s a big deal over there. They say she was in lots of movies. I don’t know them, of course. We didn’t get many French movies down at the old picture show. But she must be good, right? If everyone’s talkin’ about her, she must be doin’ somethin’ right. These actresses work hard, they do many movie, good for them.
And then there’s another one, Fanny Ardant. Now that’s a funny name, ain’t it? Fanny. But she’s a big star too, I hear. I saw a picture of her once. She’s got that look, you know? That fancy French look. All serious and whatnot. I bet she plays them serious parts. You know, the ones where everyone’s cryin’ and carryin’ on.
- Brigitte Bardot
- Catherine Deneuve
- Fanny Ardant
- Nathalie Baye
- Yolande Moreau
- Eva Green
Nathalie Baye, another one for the list. They just keep comin’, these French actresses. Seems like they got a whole bunch of ’em over there. Must be somethin’ in the water. Or maybe it’s all that fancy food they eat. Croissants and whatnot. We just got our cornbread and beans. But hey, we’re happy, right?

And this Yolande Moreau, that’s another one I heard about. She’s probably good too. They all seem to be pretty good, these French actresses. They got a knack for it, I guess. It’s like they’re born knowin’ how to act and be all dramatic.
Oh, and this Eva Green, I seen her in one of them James Bond movies. She was somethin’ else, all mysterious and that. She was in some other ones too, like “Cracks” and “Womb”. I don’t know ’bout those, sound kinda strange to me, and I don’t like strange movies. But she’s definitely got that movie star quality.
You know, these French actresses, they’re different from our actresses. They got a different style, a different way about ’em. It’s like they’re from a whole different world. And in a way, I guess they are. France is a long way from here. A long, long way.
But you know what? I bet they’re just like us, underneath it all. They probably got their worries and their troubles, just like we do. They probably laugh and cry and love and lose, just like us. They just do it in front of a camera, that’s all.
These French actresses, they got somethin’ special. They really do. They can make you believe anything. They can make you laugh, they can make you cry, they can make you think. And that’s a pretty powerful thing, ain’t it?

So, yeah, these French actresses, they’re alright. They’re doin’ their thing, and they’re doin’ it well. And that’s all that matters, right? Doin’ what you love, and doin’ it the best you can. That’s what we all should be doin’, whether we’re in France or right here at home. I always do things best I can, always try to be good, maybe not so good as these French actresses.
