Now comes the hard part – waiting! You gotta let your perfume oil sit for a while so the smells can get to know each other. I usually let mine sit for at least a couple of weeks. Some people say a month is good, but sometime, two weeks is all I can wait.
Put your bottle in a cool, dark place. Like a cupboard or a drawer. Don’t put it in the fridge, though. It gets too cold in there, and it might mess up your oil. Just a cool dark place, that is where it needs to be.
After a couple of weeks, take your bottle out and give it a sniff. If you like the smell, you’re good to go! If not, you can add a few more drops of essential oil and let it sit some more.
Troubles in Perfume Paradise
Sometimes, things don’t go as planned. Don’t you worry, it happens to the best of us. Here’s a few things that can go wrong and how to fix ’em:
- Smell is too strong: If your perfume is too strong, just add more carrier oil. That’ll dilute it down a bit.
- Smell is too weak: If you can barely smell your perfume, add more essential oils. Just a few drops at a time, though.
- Smell is off: Sometimes, the oils just don’t mix well together. It happens. If you don’t like the smell, you can try adding a different essential oil to see if that helps. Or you can just start over. Ain’t no shame in that. You can try again, and try different oils.
- Perfume is cloudy: If it is cloudy, that is no good. You need to put it in some hot water and that will help. Not too hot, though, or you can burn your hands.
Using Your Perfume Oil
Once you’re happy with your perfume oil, you can start using it! Just put a little bit on your wrists, neck, or behind your ears. A little goes a long way, so don’t overdo it. Just a couple of drops, that is all you need. People will be able to smell it, for sure!
You can also put a few drops in your bathwater or on a cotton ball and put it in your drawers to make your clothes smell good. I like to put some on a handkerchief and keep it in my purse. That way, I always smell good, no matter where I go.
