Well, let me tell ya ’bout this Annie Lennox gal and her “Nostalgia” album. Don’t know much about fancy music stuff, but I know what I like, ya know? This album, it’s all old songs, not hers, but she sings ’em.

Annie Lennox and Her “Nostalgia” Thingy
They say it came out in 2014, that’s like, ten years ago now? Time flies, I tell ya. Anyway, this “Nostalgia,” it’s her sixth album all by herself, not with that Eurythmics band she used to be in. Heard them on the radio back in the day, catchy tunes, that “Sweet Dreams” one, always got me tappin’ my foot. But this “Nostalgia,” it’s different, real different. All slow and… well, nostalgic, I guess, just like the name says. Makes ya think ’bout old times, ya know?
They say it’s all covers, which means she didn’t write the songs herself. She just sings ’em. Like when you sing them old hymns at church, same kinda thing, I reckon. Someone else wrote ’em, but you make ’em your own. That’s what Annie done here, I think. She took these old songs and put her own spin on ’em.
Heard someone say she sings this “Memphis In June” song real good. Don’t know that song myself, but they seemed to like it. Guess it’s one of them slow, bluesy kinda songs. You know, the ones that make ya wanna sit on the porch with a glass of iced tea and just… think. That’s what this whole album feels like, to be honest.
Is It Any Good? Well…

Now, some folks, they love this album. They say it’s one of her best. They talk about her voice, say it’s powerful and all that. Can’t argue with that, she can sing, that gal. Got a voice that can fill a whole room, make the hairs on your arms stand up. But is it better than that “Diva” album everyone talks about? I dunno. Never heard that “Diva” one all the way through, just bits and pieces on the radio.
Some website, they put “Nostalgia” as the fifth best outta seven albums she made. Fifth best, huh? Not bad, not bad at all. But then they say that “Diva” one is like, super high up on the list of all albums ever made. Hard to believe, but what do I know? I just listen to what I like, don’t care about no fancy rankings.
- Annie’s Voice: Like I said, she can sing. Got a strong voice, real strong. Even when she’s singing these slow songs, you can feel the power in it.
- Old Songs: They’re all old songs, like I said before. Some you might know, some you might not. But they’re all kinda… sad, I guess. Make you think about things you lost, people you miss.
- Not for Everyone: This ain’t no party album, that’s for sure. It’s not the kinda music you put on when you’re havin’ a good time. It’s more for when you’re feeling… well, nostalgic. Like the name says!
That Annie Lennox Gal, She’s Something Else
Heard tell she’s sold a whole bunch of albums, like, millions and millions. That’s a lot of records, ain’t it? And she ain’t just a singer, neither. They say she’s a songwriter, too. And a political activist! Don’t know what that means exactly, but sounds important. And she gives money to charity, which is a good thing, right? Help folks out, that’s what we should all do.
This gal, she started out in some band called The Tourists, then she went on to that Eurythmics thing with that Dave Stewart fella. They were big, real big, back in the day. Then she went solo, and she’s been doin’ her own thing ever since. Seems like she’s always been her own person, even back then. Heard a story about her cutting her hair real short. Said she wanted to look edgy, not like everyone else. Good for her, I say. Be yourself, that’s what I always say. Don’t try to be someone you ain’t.

Now, they say she don’t really do concerts much anymore. Gets stage fright, every time! Can you believe that? A big star like her, gettin’ nervous. Guess it happens to everyone, even the famous folks. She mostly just sings with her daughter on them YouTube videos, so I hear. Family time, that’s important.
So, this “Nostalgia” album… it’s not for everyone. It’s slow, it’s sad, it’s… well, it’s nostalgic. If you like that kinda thing, you might like it. If you’re looking for something to get you dancin’, look elsewhere. But if you wanna sit back, close your eyes, and think about old times, then this Annie Lennox album, it might just be the ticket. Just remember to have that glass of iced tea handy. You’ll need it.
