Alright, so I’ve been messing around with these KD 7 BHM kicks for a while now, and I gotta say, I’m pretty impressed. I picked these up back when they first dropped in 2014, so I’ve definitely put them through their paces.

First off, let’s talk about the design. These shoes were released as part of Nike’s Black History Month collection, and they look great. The black and white colorway is simple but slick, and they’ve got some cool details that really make them stand out.
Now, when I first got my hands on these, I was really curious about the fit. I’d heard some mixed things, but I went with my usual size and they fit perfectly. True to size, just like most folks say. I wear size 10, by the way. So no problems there.
In terms of performance, these shoes are no joke. They have excellent traction, which is perfect for the court. The Zoom unit in the forefoot is noticeable and helps with responsiveness. And there’s also a Zoom Max unit in the heel for extra cushioning, which is a nice touch. They’re also pretty lightweight, which is always a plus.
I’ve worn these for pick-up games, shooting around, and even just casually, and they’ve held up great. The cushioning is still solid, and the traction is still on point. I know some people prefer the KD 6, but for me, the KD 7 is the better shoe.
What I Really Like
- Traction: Seriously, the grip on these is amazing. I felt like I could make any cut or change direction with confidence.
- Cushioning: The Zoom units do their job well. My feet never felt sore, even after playing for hours.
- Lightweight: These shoes don’t weigh you down at all. I felt quick and agile on the court.
- Design: The BHM colorway is awesome. I got a lot of compliments on these.
I remember when these dropped on January 24th, 2015. I copped them for $170, which I think was a pretty fair price for what you get. They were a bit hyped up, being a Black History Month release, but I think they lived up to it.

All in all, I’m really happy with my KD 7 BHMs. They’re a solid pair of basketball shoes that look good and perform well. If you can find a pair in good condition, I’d definitely recommend picking them up.
