I was strolling through the mall yesterday, and I saw these AF1 Metallics in the window of a shoe store. They looked so damn cool that I just had to try them on. Once they were on my feet, I knew I couldn’t leave without them. They fit perfectly, and the metallic sheen was even more eye-catching up close.
After wearing them for a full day, I realized they are gonna need some special care to keep them looking fresh. I don’t want these beauties losing their shine! So I figured I’d share my cleaning routine, just in case any of you snag a pair of these awesome kicks.
Getting Started
First things first, I took out the shoelaces. No point in getting those dirty while I’m cleaning the shoes. I set those aside for a separate wash later. Next, I grabbed a soft brush I had lying around.
The Cleaning Process
- I filled a small bowl with some warm water and added a tiny squirt of dish soap. I swirled it around to make some suds.
- I gently dipped the brush into the soapy water and started scrubbing the shoes. I focused on the dirtier areas first.
- Once I had scrubbed the whole shoe, I used a clean, damp cloth to wipe away all the soap. Then, I let them air dry.
Finishing Touches
After the shoes were completely dry, I cleaned the laces separately and put them back in. They look good as new! I might look into some special protective sprays to help maintain the metallic finish, but for now, this simple cleaning method did the trick.
I wore my sparkling AF1s out again today, and they still look fantastic. Hopefully, with regular cleaning, they’ll stay this way for a long time!
