Well, let me tell you somethin’ about this Lynn von Kersting. That name sure is a mouthful, ain’t it? Sounds fancy, I reckon. She’s tied up with that place, The Ivy. Fancy place, you know. Lots of big shots go there, eat and be seen. That’s what they say.

This Lynn, she’s an interior designer, I hear. Makes things look pretty, I guess. She and this Richard Irving fella, they started The Ivy. He’s the chef, makin’ all them fancy foods. They say it’s a place where all them movie stars and such go. You know, them folks on the silver screen. The Ivy, it’s right there in Los Angeles. Big city, that is.
The Ivy, well, it ain’t just any old place to grab a bite. It’s been around since, when was it? 1983. And that means it’s been there a long time, must be doin’ somethin’ right, don’t you think? I heard it’s kinda famous in that LA food scene. Whatever that is.
They say that Lynn von Kersting and that Richard, they got a daughter, too. India, her name is. She’s in on it, too, workin’ at The Ivy with her folks. Family business, you see. That’s nice, ain’t it?
Now, I hear tell The Ivy is down on Robertson Boulevard. Don’t ask me where that is. Somewhere in that big city. Folks say it’s a real “theatrical institution.” What do you think that means? Fancy, I bet. They got some names, real big shots, that used to go there all the time. Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh, Marlene Dietrich, heard those names before.
And there’s another place, too, Ivy at the Shore. Down in Santa Monica. Same folks own it, that Lynn von Kersting and Richard. Same rules, they say. Whatever that means. Must be some fancy rules, I imagine.

Some folks call this Lynn the “Queen of Clutter.” Can you imagine? She must like to collect things, huh? But people like her stuff, I reckon, otherwise, she wouldn’t be so famous, right?
- The Ivy is in Los Angeles.
- Lynn von Kersting and Richard Irving own it.
- It’s been around a long time.
- Famous people like it.
- They got another one in Santa Monica.
I heard this Lynn, she designs pottery, too. Sells it at some shop called Indigo Seas. Right next to The Ivy, they say. Plates and platters and such. Made in Peru, if you can believe that. All the way over there.
Now, I ain’t never been to The Ivy. Probably too fancy for the likes of me. But it sure sounds interestin’, don’t it? All them famous folks, eatin’ fancy food. And this Lynn von Kersting, makin’ it all look pretty. She must be somethin’, that Lynn.
The Ivy, they take reservations, I hear. Must be important to call ahead, you know, make sure you get a seat. And it’s accessible. That’s important, too. Means anyone can go, I reckon.
People-watchin’, that’s what one fella said he did there. Just sat there and watched all them fancy folks come and go. Sounds like a good time to me, if you like that sort of thing. Special occasion, that’s what they call it. The Ivy is a good place for a special occasion, a celebration.

Well, I guess that’s all I know about that Lynn von Kersting and her Ivy. Seems like a busy lady, that one. Designin’ places, makin’ pottery, runnin’ restaurants. She’s got her fingers in a lot of pies, as they say.
It’s all a bit much for me, I reckon. I’m more of a simple food kind of gal. But hey, to each their own, right? If you ever get a chance to go to that Ivy, you let me know what it’s like, you hear? I’d be curious to know.
You know, they say The Ivy feels like a converted home. Kinda like some other places around here, Alcove and Aroma. I don’t know them places, but it sounds nice, doesn’t it? Cozy, like.
That Lynn von Kersting, though, she sure knows how to make a place popular, doesn’t she? Must be good at what she does. And that Richard, too, cookin’ up all that food. They’re a good pair, I reckon, him and her. Workin’ together, makin’ somethin’ special. Well, that’s all I got to say about that.
