Today, I bumped into a guy named Laurent Claquin. I’d never heard of him before, but the name sounded kind of fancy, so I decided to dig a little deeper.

First, I hit up a search engine, just to see what would pop up. You know, the usual stuff, his job, where he’s from, that sort of thing. Turns out, he’s a big shot in the fashion world. He’s the President of Kering Americas. I had no idea what Kering was, so I dug some more.
Kering, it turns out, is this huge luxury group that owns a bunch of famous brands like Gucci, Saint Laurent, and Balenciaga. Who knew, right? This Laurent guy must be pretty important to be running things for them in the Americas.
So, I kept digging. I checked out his LinkedIn profile to see what kind of experience he has.
- He’s been with Kering for almost 20 years! That’s some serious dedication.
- Before he became the President of the Americas, he held several other key positions in the company.
- He started out in 2005 as a Senior Vice President of Communications.
- Then moved to Head of Corporate Social Responsibility in 2008.
- And in 2011, he moved to New York as CEO of Kering Americas before being named President in 2012.
I was pretty impressed with his career path. It looks like he’s really climbed the corporate ladder.
Then, I started looking for some articles or interviews with him, just to get a better sense of who he is. I found a few pieces where he talks about sustainability and diversity in the fashion industry. It seems like he’s really passionate about making a positive impact, which is cool.

What I have learned today
It’s funny how you can stumble upon someone you’ve never heard of and end up learning so much about them. This Laurent Claquin guy seems like a pretty interesting and accomplished dude. I’m glad I took the time to learn more about him and his work at Kering.
