Okay, so I finally made it to that place everyone’s been talking about – The RealReal in Manhasset. Let me tell you, it was a journey and a half. I’ve been meaning to check this place out for ages, ever since I heard they opened up a store at 1900 Northern Blvd. I heard you could find real gems in there, so I made up my mind to visit.

First off, finding the place was a bit of a mission. I mean, I knew the address, but still, it’s a big place! I drove around a bit, but finally spotted it. Parking was another story, but hey, I managed. Once I got inside, I started browsing through their stuff.
They’ve got all sorts of things, you know? Luxury bags, clothes, jewelry – you name it. I spent a good chunk of time just looking around, trying to find something that caught my eye. They have some big names there, like Chanel, Gucci, and Louis Vuitton. After a while, I stumbled upon this amazing handbag. It was just sitting there, waiting for me. The price was a bit steep, but I thought, “Why not?” After that, I also found a beautiful scarf, and that made my day. The store also offers some services like personal styling and free valuations, which might be helpful for some people. I called them earlier to check their hours at (631) 310-4441.
My Selling Experience
Then, I thought about selling some of my own stuff. I’ve got a few luxury items lying around that I don’t really use anymore. I read on their website that you can sell stuff there, so I gave it a shot. They asked me to fill out a form and provide my phone number. I wasn’t too thrilled about the whole SMS thing, but I did it anyway. They say you can opt out by replying STOP, so that’s something. They also had some consignment policy, if the item is not sold, they’ll contact me, and I have the option to get it back.
The process was pretty straightforward. They took a look at my items, gave me a price, and we went from there. I had a bit of back-and-forth with them about the pricing, but we eventually settled on something that seemed fair. I also had a talk with their staff about how they price and authenticate items. It was pretty interesting to learn about their process.
Honestly, the whole selling thing took longer than I expected. There’s a lot of paperwork and stuff. But in the end, I managed to sell a couple of items, which was great. Now, they’re saying they’re going to be profitable by 2024, but I’ve also heard their stocks haven’t been doing too well. So, who knows? I guess they’re trying to downsize to make things work.

What I learned
Overall, it was quite an experience. I got to see how a big luxury resale place operates, bought a few nice things, and even sold some of my own stuff. It’s definitely a place worth checking out if you’re into luxury items. Here are the highlights of my trip:
- Browsed through a wide selection of luxury goods.
- Found a beautiful handbag and a scarf that I couldn’t resist buying.
- Filled out a form and provided my phone number to start the selling process.
- Discussed pricing and authentication with the staff.
- Negotiated the prices for my items and eventually made a deal.
- Learned about the company’s goal to be profitable by 2024 and their current downsizing efforts.
- Explored the store’s additional services, like personal styling and free valuations.
Would I go back? Yeah, probably. It’s a bit of a hassle with the whole buying and selling process, but if you’ve got the time and patience, it can be worth it. Plus, it’s always fun to see what treasures you can find. I guess that’s why they call it The RealReal, right?
