So, I decided to check out the holiday windows at Saks Fifth Avenue. You know, the ones that everyone talks about every year. I’ve seen photos, but I wanted to experience them in person. This is what I did.
First, I waited until the evening, because that’s when the light show happens. It’s not just the windows; there’s a whole light show on the side of the building. Pretty cool, right? The windows and the light show started on November 25th this year. I made a note to myself that I had to go and see them.
I headed over to Fifth Avenue, where Saks is, and wow. Just wow. There were so many people! Everyone was taking photos and videos. The crowd was massive. I joined them of course!
- I started with the windows. They had these amazing displays. I heard that one year they told the story of the Saks Yeti, whatever that means. This year, it looked like a bunch of colorful sweets, kind of like macarons, if you know what those are. Each window was like a little story, a little world of its own.
- Then, the light show began. It was this incredible display of lights moving across the building, all set to music. Apparently, they have celebrity guests at the unveiling, like Elton John in 2022. I can see why. It’s a big deal. I was totally mesmerized!
- I spent a good amount of time just watching the show and looking at the windows. It was really something to see. I took a bunch of photos and some videos. I wanted to capture the moment.
After that, I just walked around the area a bit. The whole street was buzzing with people enjoying the festive displays. It felt really, you know, Christmassy.
Honestly, it was a great experience. If you’re in New York during the holidays, you should definitely go and see the Saks windows and light show. It’s worth battling the crowds. It’s one of those things that really gets you into the holiday spirit, you know?
