Hey everyone, it’s your boy back again with another one of my crazy experiments. Today, I decided to tackle something a bit different – I tried to become Serena van der Woodsen. Yeah, you heard that right, the one and only from Gossip Girl.
First off, I started digging into who this Serena character actually is. I found out she’s played by Blake Lively, and apparently, she’s a pretty big deal in the show. She’s this “It Girl,” whatever that means, and she’s got this whole high-society vibe going on. To be honest, it sounded a bit out of my league, but hey, I was already committed.
So, I read some more and discovered that this whole Gossip Girl thing was a book series first, and Serena was the main character. Interesting, right? I also learned that Blake Lively wasn’t the first choice for the role. They were thinking about Ashley Olsen and Rumer Willis. Can you imagine? No offense to them, but Blake Lively just has that Serena spark, you know?
- Step one: Get the look. I tried to find clothes that screamed “rich and fashionable” like Serena. It was tough, man. My wardrobe is mostly just jeans and t-shirts. I did my best, though, borrowing some stuff from friends and even hitting up a few thrift stores.
- Step two: The attitude. From what I gathered, Serena is all about confidence and charm. She’s the kind of person who can walk into a room and own it. I practiced my “Serena walk” and tried to act all cool and collected. It felt weird, not gonna lie.
- Step three: The social life. Serena is always at some fancy party or event, surrounded by other rich and famous people. I don’t exactly roll in those circles, so I tried to make my regular hangouts feel a bit more “Gossip Girl.” I suggested we go to a fancier bar than usual, and I even tried to throw a little get-together at my place, complete with some slightly-too-expensive snacks.
Honestly, the whole thing was exhausting. Pretending to be someone you’re not, especially someone as glamorous as Serena, is hard work! I definitely don’t have the energy or the bank account to keep up with that lifestyle.
But, I gotta say, it was a fun experiment. I learned a bit about myself and a lot about this whole Gossip Girl world. I now know that she married Ryan Reynolds and they have four children. Plus I think I appreciate my own, simpler life a bit more now. Maybe I’ll stick to being me for a while. That’s it for today’s adventure. Catch you guys later!
