Okay, so, I tried out a shimmer blue lipstick today. Sounds a bit wild, right? But I wanted to see how it would turn out. I had this blue dress that I planned to wear, and I thought, “Why not go all out?”
First, I looked at my skin tone in the mirror. I’ve got more of a warm tone, kinda yellowish, so I wasn’t sure if a cool-toned blue lipstick would work. But hey, it’s all about experimenting!
I started by prepping my lips. You know, exfoliated them a bit, put on some lip balm. Gotta have that smooth base. Then, I took a deep breath and applied the shimmer blue lipstick. It was definitely blue, with a bit of sparkle in it.
I checked myself in the mirror. Hmm, not bad, but also not great. Since my skin is warm-toned, I thought maybe a lipstick with warm undertones would be better. Blue is a cool tone, more on the purple side of the color wheel. I remembered reading somewhere that if you imagine a color spectrum, colors closer to orange are warm-toned, and those closer to purple are cool-toned. Makes sense, right?
Anyway, I decided to try a few other shades that might go better with my blue dress. Here’s what I experimented with:
- Nude’y browns: These looked pretty natural and didn’t clash with the dress.
- Mauve: This was a bit more interesting, a mix of brown and pink. Looked subtle but nice.
- Bright pink: This popped! It was fun but maybe a bit too much with the blue dress.
- Coral: Now this was a good match! It had warm undertones and complemented the blue dress really well.
- Warm-toned red: This also worked. It was bold but in a good way.
After all that, I realized the blue lipstick was fun to try, but it wasn’t the best match for me or my dress. I ended up going with the coral lipstick. It just felt right, you know?
The whole experience taught me a thing or two about matching lipstick to my skin tone and outfit. It’s not just about the color of the lipstick but also about the undertones. And sometimes, it’s just about what makes you feel good!
