Alright, so today I’m gonna talk about this thing called the slgc001, which is apparently a big deal in the watch world. I saw some folks online saying it’s a “mechanical chronograph” from Grand Seiko, whatever that means. They named it the “Tentagraph” which, according to them, stands for “TEN beats per second,” “Three days of power reserve,” and “Automatic.” Sounds fancy, right?

So, I started digging around a bit more. Found out that this Tentagraph thing was released sometime in 2023, September 18th to be exact, or at least, that’s when some people started talking about it. It seems like Grand Seiko was trying to compete with other fancy watchmakers with this one. They were going on and on about how it’s filling some “key market gap” and all that jazz.
Then I got into the nitty-gritty details. It has something called a “72-hour power reserve.” Now, I’m no watch expert, but that sounds like it can run for three days without needing to be wound up, which is pretty neat I guess. It’s got this “9S calibre” thing, first seen in 2020, with a “high-beat 36,000vph rate.” Again, no clue what that actually means in practice, but it sounds impressive, like a fast, smooth operation.
Dived deeper and learned that this watch is made of titanium. I guess that makes it light and tough? I don’t know, but it’s cool they used a material like that.
So after all that, I finally got my hands on one of these slgc001 Tentagraph watches. It’s… well, it’s a watch. It tells the time, and it does it pretty well, I suppose. The three-day power reserve thing is actually true, which is handy. I didn’t have to keep winding it up.
Wore it around for a few days. It’s comfortable enough, and yeah, it is pretty light, probably because of that titanium stuff. It definitely feels well-made, not like those cheap knock-offs you see around.

My Takeaway
After wearing it and checking it out, I can see why some people are making a fuss about it. It’s a solid watch, does what it’s supposed to, and it’s got some cool features like that long power reserve. Plus, it’s made by Grand Seiko, which seems to be a big name in watches, so that’s gotta count for something. Is it worth all the hype? I don’t know, but it’s definitely a nice piece of gear to have on your wrist.
- Pros: Long power reserve, looks good, made of titanium, it’s a Grand Seiko.
- Cons: It’s just a watch, folks, don’t get too carried away.
Anyway, that’s my little adventure with the slgc001. Hope you found it somewhat interesting.
