Okay, so, I tried to recreate Taylor Swift’s look, but without any makeup. It’s a bit of a challenge, let me tell you. I started by studying her face in those “woke up like this” photos. Annoyingly, the girl seems to be flawless even without a stitch of makeup on, no leftover eyeliner or anything. She’s probably one of those aliens.
Trying to Capture the Essence
First things first, I really focused on getting the basics right. I washed my face with some random brand cleanser, making sure there was no leftover makeup from yesterday, then, applied some moisturizer to my face to make sure I didn’t look too much like a dried-out prune.
- Washed face: Got a clean, blank canvas to work with.
- Moisturized: Made my skin look all dewy and fresh, like I’ve been drinking gallons of water, which I haven’t.
The Hair Situation
Then there’s the hair. Taylor’s got that whole effortless, wavy thing going on, even when she’s just chilling. I tried to mimic that by sleeping with wet hair, braided it loosely, then, used a curling iron to create some waves, and hoped for the best. I think it turned out okay, kinda messy but in a cute way, I guess.
Faking It Till You Make It (Or Not)
Since I wasn’t using makeup, I tried other tricks. I used an eyelash curler to make my eyes look a bit more open, although I don’t think anyone can tell the difference. I also tried to master the art of the “natural” blush by pinching my cheeks. It was pretty weird, but it gave me a tiny bit of color.
I saw that she uses some Pat McGrath Labs primer and lipstick, and Nars’ The Original Lipstick in the shade Morocco, a matte cinnamon-red shade. But that wasn’t going to work for me. I was aiming to see her face without makeup, and I wasn’t going to use any.
The Verdict
Honestly, trying to look like Taylor Swift without makeup is quite impossible. I don’t look much like her at all, with or without makeup. She’s got that natural glow that I clearly lack. But it was a fun experiment, and it definitely made me appreciate how much effort goes into looking effortless. Plus, it confirmed that I need to invest in some good skincare products. Or maybe just accept that I’ll never look like a pop star first thing in the morning. Or any time, really. If you want a photo of her, you are better off attending one of her concerts. But for me, I don’t think I will be trying this again anytime soon.
