Recently, I’ve been thinking a lot about what beauty really means in our everyday lives. I mean, we’re always rushing from one thing to another, right? So, I decided to take a step back and really look for beauty in the small things around me.

I started by just noticing things on my way to work. You know, like that park I always pass by? Instead of just rushing past it, I stopped for a few minutes each day. I looked at the trees, the flowers, and how the sunlight hit the leaves. Sounds simple, but it really changed my mornings.
Then, I tried this on the subway. Instead of burying my face in my phone, I observed people, the different colors of their clothes, and the expressions on their faces. It’s amazing how much you miss when you’re not really paying attention.
I also started doing this at home. I have this little garden, and I began to really appreciate the plants growing there. Watching a flower bloom or seeing a new leaf sprout made me feel connected to something bigger.
- I kept a journal. Each day, I wrote down three things that I found beautiful. It could be anything, a kind gesture from a stranger, a beautiful sunset, or even a well-made cup of coffee.
- I took photos. Not for social media, but just for myself. I captured moments that felt beautiful to me. Looking back at these photos later reminded me of those moments.
- I shared my experiences with friends. I talked to them about what I was doing and encouraged them to try it too. Some of them did, and they found it to be a really positive experience.
Here’s the thing: you don’t need to be an expert or anything to find beauty. It’s not about some grand gesture. It’s about the little things. And it’s not about doing it perfectly, but about making an effort, having hope, and finding simple joy in daily life. It’s about taking the time to appreciate what’s right in front of you.
At first, it felt a bit strange, honestly. But I kept at it. And you know what? It started to change how I see the world. I feel more positive, more grateful. It’s like I’ve found a new way to experience life, and it’s pretty amazing.

So, I encourage you to try it. Just take a few minutes each day to really see the beauty around you. It might surprise you how much it can change your perspective.
