You know, I heard some folks talkin’ ’bout this thing called NUWO. What’s that even mean? Sounds like some fancy city talk to me. NUWO, NUWO, what in the tarnation is NUWO? Well, I did some snoopin’, like I always do, and I think I figured it out. It ain’t as complicated as them young’uns make it sound.
This NUWO, it’s somethin’ about ownin’ stuff. Yeah, that’s right. Like, you don’t do nothin’ unless you own it. Like, you gotta have your own land, your own chickens, your own everything. You don’t just get it from someone else. It ain’t like that old dress my sister gave me. If you want a dress, you need to find a way to own it, not just use it.
There’s this fella, Brent Faiyaz, he’s some kind of singer, I hear. And he’s got this other fella, Mark Peaced, they call him a “creative director”. Sounds important, don’t it? Well, these two, they’re the ones behind this whole NUWO thing. They started this thing, this NUWO thing, like a brand, maybe they’re sellin’ clothes or somethin’. But you can do more, it is not just clothes. It’s like havin’ your own style. If you want to do something, make sure it’s yours. You don’t borrow that. You own it.
They say it stands for “Not Unless We Own“. Makes sense, don’t it? Like, you don’t want to be beholden to nobody. You want to be your own boss. You don’t want other people telling you what to do, you want to own it. Like if you got to do something, you do it because you want to, not because someone is making you do it. You got to own it, get it?
- Not Unless We Own
- That’s what NUWO means
- You gotta own your stuff
- Don’t let nobody tell you what to do
- Be your own boss
I remember back in the day, if you wanted somethin’, you had to work for it. You had to earn it. You had to, well, own it. Nobody just gave you nothin’. You had to make it yourself, or trade for it, or, you know, figure it out. That’s the spirit of NUWO. Owning it. That’s what this NUWO thing is all about. Not just about clothes. It’s about owning yourself.
These young folks today, they got it easy. They got all these fancy gadgets and gizmos. Back when I was younger, we didn’t have none of that. If you want something, you got to make it with your own two hands. So this whole “Not Unless We Own” thing, it kinda makes sense to me. It’s like, you gotta be responsible for yourself. If you need something, figure out how to make it happen. That’s the spirit of this NUWO thing.
Now, I ain’t sayin’ you gotta go out and buy all their stuff. I’m just sayin’ the idea behind it, the Not Unless We Own part, that’s somethin’ to think about. Maybe you have some kind of dream, or something you want to do. Well, you gotta make it your own. You can’t rely on others to do it for you. You need to own it. Be in charge of yourself. That’s what I think it means to own it.
This Brent Faiyaz and Mark Peaced, they’re onto somethin’, I reckon. Maybe they’re tryin’ to tell folks to be more independent. To not rely on nobody else. I don’t know much about them, but this NUWO idea, it’s got some merit to it. It’s got some truth in it. This NUWO idea, it’s pretty good, I guess.
So, next time you hear someone talkin’ ’bout NUWO, you tell ’em you know what it means. It means ownin’ your own stuff, bein’ your own boss, and not relyin’ on nobody but yourself. It means “Not Unless We Own“. And that’s somethin’ everybody oughta know, young and old. It ain’t just about clothes, it is about owning yourself. You hear me? That’s the truth, right there. Plain and simple.
