Okay, so, the other day I was digging around trying to figure out if this thing I bought was legit or not. I’m talking about this little Beabrick figure. It was kind of driving me nuts, so I decided to write down how I finally got to the bottom of it. I started by going straight to the source. I mean, I hit up those websites that sell authentic movie props and stuff, like that PropStore place and HeroProp. They’ve got all kinds of things there, like costumes and concept art, you name it. No luck with my Beabrick there, though.

So, my next move was to check out this image search thing called TinEye. These guys are supposed to be like, super experts in computer vision and all that fancy stuff. I thought, maybe they could tell me something about my figure. So, I tried to search it, but it can not find anything, maybe it was not so useful, and my figure was just a normal production.
Then I stumbled upon some forum online where people were talking about this exact type of figure, the 854 tritype, I think it was called. There wasn’t a ton of info there, but it gave me a few more clues. A lot of people were saying that the best way to check if a Bearbrick is real is to look at the barcode. You know, scan it and see if anything pops up. But, mine is a special edition, it doesn’t have a barcode.
I also looked at some websites that deal with collectible stuff, like Pokemon cards and things like that. I figured the same rules might apply. I went to the Pokemon Card Database, TCGPlayer, and pkmncards. I even just did a regular old Google Image search, comparing my figure to pictures online. It looked pretty similar, but there were a few tiny differences that were bugging me.
- First, I tried to find some official stores to check, but I failed.
- Then, I searched some image websites, but nothing came out.
- I went to some forums, but not much useful information was found.
- I tried some collectible stuff websites and did some comparison, but it was still hard to tell.
The thing that finally cracked the case for me was the sound it made. I found a video online where someone was comparing a real one to a fake one. The real one had this specific sound, kind of distinct, you know? But the fake one just sounded louder and kind of off. And also, I tried to find the one who made it. I searched the number, tried to call it, and searched for it in some search websites, but, nothing came out, either. It is so hard.
So, after all that, I’m pretty sure mine is real. It was a real pain to figure out, but I learned a lot along the way. I hope my little adventure helps someone else out there who’s trying to figure out if their stuff is the real deal or not.
