Okay, so, today I’m gonna talk about this whole “who took Lara Jean’s hat box” thing. It’s been bugging me, and I finally cracked the case. You won’t believe this, but it was her little sister, Kitty, all along!
First off, I started digging into this whole mess. I watched the movie, like, a million times. Then I went and read the actual book, “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before.” Turns out, the book and the movie have different reasons for why those letters got sent out.
Here’s what I found:
- In the book, Kitty sends out Lara Jean’s love letters because she was mad. Lara Jean was teasing her about liking Josh, so Kitty did it to get back at her. Can you believe that? Classic little sister move!
- In the movie, they made Kitty a bit older, and her reason is kinda different. She sends the letters because she thinks it’ll help Lara Jean get a boyfriend. A little misguided, but hey, she meant well, I guess.
So, I spent hours, like, seriously, hours, piecing this together. I even went back and looked at all the scenes with Lara Jean and Kitty. And you know what? It all adds up. Kitty’s always been a little mischievous, and she’s always trying to meddle in Lara Jean’s life. This time her actions have unintended consequences.
The Mystery Solved
I re-watched a scene with her first kiss with Peter. They were at some party in seventh grade. He complimented her hair and then kissed her. It was like, BAM, I figured it out. Kitty sending those letters was just another way for her to shake things up. And, she did it by taking that teal hat box her mom gave her, the one where Lara Jean kept all her secret love letters. That box was a symbol of Lara Jean’s old life, and Kitty just went and tossed it all out there.
And guess what? Margot and Lara Jean eventually make up. It’s all good in the end, but seriously, Kitty, what a rollercoaster!
Finally, after all this detective work, I can confidently say that Kitty was the mastermind behind the whole letter scandal. She took the hat box, sent out the letters, and caused all that drama.
