Okay, so, today I’m gonna talk about something a bit different – designing stuff for the “Year of the Dragon.” Sounds fancy, right? Well, it’s been a bit of a ride, let me tell you.

First off, I started by diving into what this whole “Year of the Dragon” thing is all about. Turns out, it’s a big deal in some cultures, especially Chinese. Dragons are like, a symbol of power, luck, and all that good stuff. So, I figured, I gotta make something that screams “awesome dragon vibes.”
I sketched out a bunch of ideas. Some were, uh, let’s just say “too ambitious” for my skill level. Others were just plain boring. But I kept at it, mixing and matching elements from different designs I saw. There’s this one jacket, a bomber from Kenzo, that had the dragon in a figure-eight – pretty cool, I thought.
- Brainstormed dragon designs – some wild, some not so much.
- Drew a bunch of sketches.
- Looked at other brands for inspiration, like that Kenzo jacket.
Then came the tricky part – actually making the designs. I messed around with a few different programs. Some were too complicated, others didn’t have the tools I needed. I even tried making a dragon tail handle for a bag, like that one from Bottega Veneta. Didn’t exactly turn out like theirs, but hey, I learned a thing or two.
After a lot of trial and error (and maybe a few frustrated sighs), I finally got a couple of designs I was happy with. One’s a cool graphic for a t-shirt, with a dragon kinda swirling around. The other’s a pattern for, get this, a custom phone case. It’s got these little dragons all over it. It is so cute.
- Experimented with different design software.
- Tried to replicate some high-end designs – mixed results.
- Finally created a t-shirt graphic and a phone case pattern.
The Final Results
So, yeah, it was a challenge, but a fun one. I pushed myself to try new things, and I ended up with some designs I’m actually proud of. Plus, I learned a ton about the symbolism of dragons and got to see how big brands are cashing in on this whole “Year of the Dragon” trend. Like, did you know Shu Qi is the face of a Bottega Veneta campaign? Crazy, right? Or that Gucci’s got these two actors, Tian Xiwei and Zhou Yiran, all decked out in dragon-themed gear? Wild.

Anyway, that’s my little adventure in “Year of the Dragon” designing. Hope you found it somewhat interesting. Maybe it’ll even inspire you to try your hand at designing something. Who knows, you might surprise yourself!
