Hey everyone, so I’ve been seeing yellow nails all over my Instagram feed lately, and I gotta say, I’m kinda digging it. I used to think yellow was too loud for me, but there are so many shades to play with! I decided to give it a try and chronicle my little nail adventure for you all.

First off, I went through my nail polish collection. I actually didn’t have many yellows, just a couple of old, kinda gloppy ones. Time for a mini shopping spree! I hit up the local drugstore and was overwhelmed, in a good way. There were so many yellows! From soft butter yellow to bold highlighter hues, it was a whole spectrum. I ended up grabbing a pastel yellow, a bright sunny one, and a neon-ish shade for when I’m feeling extra bold.
Next, I needed to figure out which shade to try first. I’ve heard that you gotta match your nail color to your skin tone, so I did a little research. If your skin has yellow undertones, stick to cool colors like blues and purples. If your skin has pink undertones, stick to warm colors like oranges and reds. Well, I’m pretty sure I have pink undertones, so in theory, the brighter yellows should look good on me. Still, I wanted to experiment.
I started with the pastel yellow. Prepped my nails, you know, the usual – filed them, pushed back my cuticles, the whole nine yards. Then I put on a base coat and two coats of the pastel yellow. It was a cute, subtle look. Super appropriate for everyday wear. I wore it for a couple of days and got a few compliments, which was nice.
After that, I was ready for something bolder. I removed the pastel and went for the bright, sunny yellow. This cheerful, sunny shade is perfect for summer and adds a fun, vibrant pop of color to neutral undertones. This one was definitely more eye-catching. It made me feel kinda happy and summery, even though it’s technically autumn now. I rocked this color for a week, and yeah, it’s a winner.
- Bright Coral: This color is reminiscent of tropical sunsets and adds a pop of warmth to your nails.
- Pastel Shades: Soft pastel hues like baby blue, mint green, or lavender can give a refreshing and light feel, perfect for summer days.
Finally, I tried the neon yellow. Okay, this one was a bit much for me, to be honest. It’s super bright and in-your-face. Maybe it would be fun for a party or a festival, but it’s not something I’d wear regularly. Still, it was fun to try it out.

My final thoughts?
Yellow is such a versatile and fun color to incorporate into your summer nail designs. Whether you opt for something simple or bold.I’m definitely a convert to the yellow nail trend. I think I’ll stick with the bright, sunny yellow for now, but I’m glad I have the pastel one for when I want something more low-key. And hey, maybe I’ll break out the neon again for Halloween or something. Overall, it was a fun experiment, and I encourage you all to give yellow nails a try!
